You go to someone's town and drop all your items there. Then, you leave, but keep pressing home after you talk to Cooper. It'll get to the home screen and then you press reset. Go back to that person's town... and walaaa! You have duplicate items.

Then you tell Cooper you want to leave, and when he says,"Just a moment" or something like that you start to simultaneously press the Home Button.
Then when it's done loading you should be able to press it.
Then when the Home Menu comes up you navigate to "Reset" and click on that.
Then your game should restart and when you return to your "friend's" town your items should be in your pockets and on the floor where you left it.
