Dreamingway's Islands: Downpour

welcome to downpour! we already have a journal for our new leaf town, but i thought it best to make something separate for new horizons (and wild world, when i get to that). a while back, we spent a while selling piles of cash as a hot item with bell boom activated (basically, every one you sell gets you a profit of 50k bells), so we have several million bells; all the house upgrades etc, all done... which means i don't actually always know what to do with myself in nh anymore! i don't really do extensive decorating etc unless i have a really good idea and the energy to execute it, which almost never happens. so mostly, nh is just for collecting things, saying hi to villagers... and having fun! and hanging out with my friends, sometimes.

it's been a while since we last played... it's also funny to me that we apparently started this island last year, because i know when i started playing again a month or two ago, we were still VERY much in the early "building new homes" stage! that's always my least favourite part (i don't like crafting stuff and having to decorate the island lol) so i get why past!me must have gotten bored and just quit. the island is named after the rain world dlc! i like the idea of it having a sort of muddy, rainy climate much of the year. maybe one day i'll get some fun custom designs for muddy paths etc... but again, i don't like decorating.

today we just went around to say hello to everyone. dobie was sweet and taught us a new recipe: tomates al ajillo!

i don't think we got to say hi to robin, lopez or meringue, they must have been asleep... but we got to see the others at least! we visited stitches to return a lost item to him, saw roscoe briefly to talk about tv shows, found ruby sitting by a river watching the world go by, and found ione, quinn, and norma singing their hearts out in the town square.

it was overall a nice, quiet night, with nothing much happening!

i forgot to mention this, but on saturday night, kk slider sang robot synth and it made us tear up... something about it just felt really hopeful, i enjoyed it a lot!

two things i'm considering lately. the first: uying a new switch lite because the joystick on this one is so broken (it drifts constantly, and it's REALLY hard to go up or down properly... it's so stuttery). i did ask a repair shop near me if they could fix it but that's not something they do. having looked into it, i think i COULD fix it myself but honestly i just... really don't want to try it. i'm willing to pay a silly amount of money to not have to do that LOL. idk, we'll see. i did almost buy one a few weeks ago but i caught myself at the last second because it felt so frivolous... anyway. the second thing: redecorating a big chunk of my island! specifically what i think of as the 'main' section. it feels SO cluttered right now and i really dislike it. i'm thinking about moving a bunch of stuff around and i think i would actually like to have like, pathways and sections... but i also know i don't like redecorating! so i'm not sure.

anyway, today's update! we did a trade with Tude, which was lovely; they gave us three squeakoids, our favourite, in exchange for an oinkoid. i dug up the oinkoid the other day and was so happy because it's bright pink, my favourite oinkoid variant, so i'm glad i got to give it to someone else (though i won't mind if they recolour it).

earlier in the day we just spent a while going around and saying hi to everyone, as usual. i went to harvey's island and reluctantly did a wedding photo lol but i put in THEE bare minimum effort. look, i love the alpacas, but the lovey-dovey thing they've got going on is EXCRUCIATING when i have to deal with it directly! and take photos! i didn't like doing it in june 2020 and i don't like doing it now haha.

i'd never actually been in ruby's room before, it's so neat! she's a little moon rabbit! ione's room is also so pretty. i think these two sort of match each other...

norma is one of those villagers that i didn't intend to have on my island, but she showed up and i just became so attached... i love the cow model, and she's just so sweet to me. i always smile when i see her around.

OH. another thing i forgot from yesterday: we had a campsite villager, Flip, and i really almost let him move in but he wanted to replace Ione and i wasn't ready to let her go yet... now i wish i had! i've never met Flip before and it's so rare I ever like monkey villagers, plus it's not like I couldn't get Ione back if I ever really wanted to (I have her amiibo). Bye Flip, I hope you come back someday!
