Did you let go of them to get their original house interiors? Or did you let them stay in your town in the basic starter houses? I’m on the fence on this because I like to see their unique individual house interiors but then again there’s a certain “charm” to keeping them at the starter houses because it reminds you how lucky you were to randomly get them as your starters (obtained them by fate and not by trading or amiibo).

I'm really on the fence about this too. I got Joey in my first 5 and I kinda hate his house, but it does feel less bare bones than my two starter villagers' houses. And I like the idea that I made that house for him, and it does have a lot of fruit around to remind me how much he loves snacks. But I just don't know if I want it that way forever...

Also, sidenote: if I decide to let him move out and then bring him back, will it be like we never met or will he remember me?

From what I heard, it’ll be like you never met. Also, another reason I’m on the fence about this is because there’s no more town tree like in NL that shows the town’s history. Therefore, the only indicator that will remind me and my visitors that they were with me from the beginning will be them in the starter houses. I don’t know if that matters but it’s just nostalgic that way. I just hate how basic it looks sometimes and how it doesn’t match the exteriors of some.

Beau is stuck in his beginner house... but it's fine because I saw his ACNH house and I decided I liked the default house better

Filbert was my 5th and was immediately yeeted right back in after he left (to get his unique house interior). He's my no-thoughts, head-empty baby child, he deserves his starry blue space-room...not a dirt patch (although his bugs probably would have preferred his old room.)

Yes, it's like he didn't know the me that spoiled him before he left, but that's fine.

Fuchsia is the only of the original 5 that is my ultimate dreamy! I'm on the fence as well. Eventually in months or years, I will get all my dreamy and she will be the odd one out. I hate the Uchi starter house and their ugly blue wall so much I don't even bother visiting Fuchsia in her house unless she is crafting.

Nintendo fix this please! I can't get rid of her and I can't stand her generic stupid home. I can't imagine people with Muffy as their starter. I miss you Muffy! The normal and peppy house are not bad but the other 3 are dreadful!

While I didn't have any of my dreamies as my first 5, I have so few dreamies that any villager outside of that is a good one. That being said, I hated the starter houses enough to let all of my starting 5 go. I guess them not being my dreamies as well helped the decision. If one of my dreamies were in the starting 5 houses, I'd probably let them go and find them again!

From what I heard, they will remember you.

Anyways, an answer to the question in the thread. I got Audie as one of my starter. I plan to have my brother to hold her in exchange for holding Lolly(one of his dreamies he got as starter) to fix houses.Though if it doesn’t work out for some reason (ie. he’s too busy or lazy to cycle out) it would be fine as well.

I kept Teddy as-is, but only because his "real" house was even less attractive than his wood block starter house! I think the idea of a cabin is really cute, but they executed it in such a lackluster way, and he had so few furniture items that I decided I could give him a better house just by giving him furniture of my choice. Too bad they didn't let him keep his cool, classy house from NL... I was really glad I looked to see what his house normally looked like before kicking him out. Otherwise I would have spent a decent amount of money for his amiibo only to be disappointed.

But for most villagers, I would let them go and move them back in if I had a reliable/affordable way of doing so, as I think most of the time their "real" houses are much nicer.

i haven’t seen kid cat’s interior but i plan on keeping him despite him having a starter interior as i feel like that adds some sentimental value to him in a way aha

Lucky is forever stuck in the beginner house sadly because I'm too scared to let him go lol

I let Merengue go yesterday because of her house. I'll get her back eventually.

my 3 move-ins after my starters were all dreamies and while I’m a little sad I didn’t get Cookie and Sherb’s houses in particular, it’s not enough to make me want to break my connection with them and move them out to get them again with their normal houses. It’s nice to have the unique homes but it doesn’t bother me that much, unless it’s a theme I especially wanted for my island!

I don't understand why they have to be stuck in basic house, especially the two starters, you should have a way to upgrade their house even if it costs bells or at least makes villagers who has left and return remember us with the same level of friendship...
I absolutely love Deirdre but her actual house is ugly, and I heard she normally has an awesome autumn/forest theme one so I don't know what to do since I don't want her to leave and not remember me if she comes back later...
I also have Flora (4th) and Tucker(3rd), their houses are a bit nicer thought.
