Hi! I'm new on these forums and I'm really confused about how everyone says that you must have proof of them being your dreamie. How can I provide proof of a villager being my dreamie(Fauna by the way) ? Also why would someone need to, It's not like people go around lying about who their dream villagers are-Is it?

Sorry if this post seems rude or I seem so stupid.
Have a nice day if you're reading this!^^

usually proof is just like... a sentence in your signature saying "___ is my dreamie!" or something like that

ppl ask for it because I'm guessing there are some ppl who get villagers from cycling threads and whatnot so they can sell them off... so ppl ask for dreamie proofs to make sure you actually want the villager? that's my guess anyways.

Dreamy proof is usually a picture of the villager you want in your signature, it counts more than text.
People ask it for popular villagers
They do it because if someone without dreamy proof that just joined today gets to the giveaway before the person that has dreamy proof then it will be totally unfair.
So say you come across a fauna giveaway, you post first meaning that you get Fauna.
But right after you posted someone else with the username "I WANT FAUNA" has fauna as their avatar and pictures of fauna in their signature clearly stating that they want her comes along, it won't be fair
Hope this helped

I know some people who won't even accept signatures as dreamie proof. They want cited examples of you talking about your dreamie in past threads and on your profile. Seems a little ridiculous if you ask me.

Ah okay! I think I get it now! Thanks for the help! So would you recommend me putting Fauna in my signature then so people don't think I'm faking her being my dream villager?:)

tsk silly people
:(

but what if you don't like to talk about villagers and you wanting stuff on the great big internet?

WHAT THEN

It seems a little extreme personally, I know a lot of people who really worry about posting online and I feel bad when I keep mentioning who my dream villager is because I think it can annoy people-I would just take someone on their word unless I'd been told that they were a scammer or something:/

Picture proof/a sigpic will usually suffice, text maybe if they're lenient. The "talking about it in past threads" is not something I've seen done before.

this is why i don't see myself ever mentioning having 'dreamies'

NOT TO TREAD ON ANY OF THE FANDOM'S TOES but 1) it sounds silly 2) this is my first Animal Crossing game so I don't know what any of the villagers are 'like' unless I actually go look them up; I don't know if I like a villager until they've moved in (or if they're popular I've probably seen their pictures before).

I like certain villagers more than others, of course, and I certainly have villagers I plan on keeping for life (until some freak accident as a result of time travel) but I can't take the term 'dreamies' enough to use it myself.

I have definitely seen people link to tumblr/Reddit/TBT as 'proof' that they have been hunting for a dream villager for a while. When it comes to very popular villagers, I suppose "anything" helps - including past posts.

if you need someone to make you a signature such as mine you know who to contact *cough*me*cough*50tbt*

Yeah I'm new also (only played city folk for maybe a day and my wii broke soon after). So I don't really know how I'd know my dreamies yet. I like hamlet, kabuki, hans alot so far but any villagers that I haven't had I won't really know if I like'em.

Here's what I would do:
Say it's my signature.
If that's not accepted, I would go out and make a 40-sentence blog entry ranting about how awesome I find _____.

I actually think it's silly that people say "If I catch you selling the villager I've given you _____ will happen" I mean, I understand they were nice enough to give you the villager but come on. It's not their villager anymore. Once a villager leaves my cycling post and is in someone else's town. They can do whatever the heck they want with it. It's not *My* villager to say "Oh you can't do __with them. Who honestly cares that much?

I think it just depends.

Villagers within the same personality types have 90% the same dialogue (so say they're an Uchi, their dialogue will be similar most of the time) with only minor differences, so most people pick based on design. You can do this by looking at a list of villagers with pictures of them, and then looking for pictures of what they look like within the game.

Other people have dreamies because they just liked that villager a lot in a previous game or because it would fit the theme of their town.

You don't have to have dreamies, it's fine if you don't.

Eh, I personally don't care that much either but I think that's mainly because some people feel attached to their villagers in some way. I think that condition is also because lots of people would rather give a villager to someone who truly likes and wants that villager, rather than someone who is just trying to re-sell it. I believe that's also the reason why lots of people ask for dreamie proof, and why when I was giving away a villager I asked that people talked a bit about why they like that villager. Of course that people can lie and cheat, but I think something like that can help make sure that people who truly want those villagers get them over people who are just trying to scam others.
