Dr Who Anniversary Event

I loved Nine, Ten and Eleven but I really hope this'll be a change, the show's been quite dark yet with a more comical child-friendly approach (I'm not sure how to describe it??) but Capaldi should open the way for a more elder audience while maintaining the child audience. It makes me wonder if Clara will still love him despite his more older-looking body
Should I laugh?

Well, there's that glare that Capaldi used in the 50th. I really hope that becomes a thing, it's time for a more serious Doctor. I know he has said that he's inspired by an old Doctor, but I cannot remember who or find the article I read it in. It also seems that he's keeping his Scottish accent too, which is nice.

I think keeping the Scottish accent is a bad idea. I mean, look at David Tennant! He's got a Scottish accent, and he had to give that up! Why should it be any different for this guy?

Maybe RTD didn't want Tennant to have his accent? (Honestly the man isn't all that special, why should he 'set the standards'?) Plus Sylvester McCoy kept his Scottish accent so Capaldi won't be the first Doctor with an accent and I think it adds more to that incarnation, much like Eccleston's Northern accent.

Did he actually have to give it up, or was it a choice?

o-o

I love the Scottish accent.

I can't wait to see what the new doctor is like. Capaldi was amazing in Torchwood, and I loved him in the Thick of It as well - it will be strange not seeing him swear in dr who!

I wonder if the fact that he appeared in Fires of Pompeii will have any significance. Karen Gillan appeared in that episode too, but her face was never really revealed.

I doubt it, Colin Baker (Doctor 6) appeared as a Time Lord in a Fifth Doctor episode and Freema Agyeman appeared in the series 2 finale and only Freema's appearance was mentioned (She was playing Martha's cousin)

He was asked to use the English accent he had used previously in the BBC3 (I think) version of Casanova because RTD didn't want the Doctor "touring the regions" because of Eccleston having an Northern accent (I still say the line "Lots of planets have a North" is one of the best of the revived series. In fact, Eccleston had most of my favourite lines).
I think this is proof that his accent will work (minus the swearing). Imagine the "I am talking" scene, but with that accent. Pure brilliance.

Edit: I mean the one from The Idiot's Lantern, rather than when Matt Smith says "I am talking".

They should have changed the last line to "How the **** do you fly this ****ing thing?"

Lines I wanted included from that video you linked to:

"Yeah, ****-ity bye"

"What're you waiting for, a ****in' sex change?"

"I'm gonna pump it full of fluid until ya ****in' drown!"

"Not the time, love, **** off."

"Didn't I just tell ya to **** off? Why're you still here?"

"I told ya to **** off twice!"

(insert a comment about horse cock here)

"Let them eat cock."

"Hey, fetus-boy."
