Dr Who Anniversary Event

Loved this. Was worried it was going to be like series 7, but nope! Annoyed about Rose Bad Wolf, but the Capaldi cameo kinda made up for it.

*Sigh* I've had to start bashing heads on Tumblr as people are being silly... Lots of people seem to think that Gallifrey has been Time-Locked for the last 50 years of Doctor Who and are complaining that Moffat has rewritten everything... WRONG! Gallifrey has only been Time-locked since the 2005 series thus Moffat has only rewritten 8 years of canon. Not. 50.

I posted this on Tumblr and have had asks saying I'm lying, well I sent them all my back up evidence from the Doctor Who wiki and sent them off telling them to actually watch Classic Era Doctor Who. Seriously, don't mess with my favourite show and its writers/cast/crew.

Clearly these people have never watched a single Classic episode. The amount that involved Gallifrey...
Moffat may have made some mistakes during his time as showrunner, but he's not stupid. He wouldn't destroy the entire canon (only Davies' haha). We should be discussing more important things, like the fact that Capaldi is the last incarnation as far as we know.

Lmao probably all a bunch of kids who weren't even born during the original episodes. (Like me)

I could use that excuse as I was born a few months after the TV movie was released, but I've bought/rented the DVDs, read the TARGET novelisations and, at first, watched the episodes online... They aren't hard to access, heck, even the BBC has a few stories on their YouTube channel... I can understand Non-English speaking countries having a problem but people from the US and the UK don't really have an excuse, have no money? Watch the episodes online or through the aforementioned YouTube channel...

I'm surprised that Tumblr hasn't fully gif'd the special yet... I need reaction gifs! :P

I hope he isn't, I want the show to last another 50 years so I can celebrate two major milestones! Knowing Moffat (if he's still in charge at the time) he'll find a way to keep the Doctor going...

Oh how I love the Doctor- I mean Anti-Moffat fandom on Tumblr, a 'popular' blog reblogged my post about Moffat only rewriting 8 years of canon vs 50 and now the Anti-Moffats are sending me hate, most of it isn't even relevant about Doctor Who :/ (One criticised me for being single, when I'm not?) I'm just ignoring it, they'll give up eventually.

The 50th anniversary novels are very good, going to pick up 4 and 6s on Tuesday! They should tide me over until Christmas.

Before it came on in the cinema, Matt Smith claimed he'd just returned from a 12D screening of the 100th anniversary special... with all 57 doctors. I'd wondered if that was a subtle hint that they're going to try and find a loophole in the incarnation rule in order to drag the show out even longer (although I really hope they don't!). :p

I loved it. :D

Pretty sure he was lying about that. Season 8 is supposed to be the final season(I'm gonna miss the Doctor and all his crazy adventures!)

You're only pretty sure he's lying about returning from the screening of the 100th anniversary special?

I've riden in the TARDIS. So yes, I'm only 'pretty sure' he's lying.

edit: in fact, the doctor is tied up in my spare room, and I stole the keys to the TARDIS from him.

But... but it was only last year that I helped the Doctor and UNIT with The Crash of the Elysium and I have the letter from the Doctor to prove it! You must be some horrible being, hell-bent on causing chaos and destruction if you stole the Doctor's TARDIS!

Where's your proof? Also, it was obviously a joke. I don't think there will ever be such thing as 12D film/TV.

Matt Smith did a cameo on Sarah Jane's spinoff & made the comment that he has an infinite number of regenerations. I wonder if Moffat is trying to write himself out of the limit that was given 50 years ago.
At the time, 13 regens was quite the limit to expect a show to go. And, of course it didn't make it. With the popularity it is today there is no way they will end it with Capaldi.
Of course, there's always the theory that River Song gave the Doctor the rest of her regenerations.

Rule number one: The Doctor always lies. I think he said 507 in that episode though, not unlimited. Although with the Time Lords not being a part of the universe the limit could potentially have been lifted. Also he saved them, so if they do come back there's the potential for them to give him more.
I'm pretty sure he is trying to get around it though. We know he's a fan of the show himself, I don't think he'd end it unless he really had to.

On a different note, who do we think the female character "from the Doctor's past" is? (The one in the Christmas special, I forget the name given to her).

Edit: Just found put that the title of the Christmas episode is The Time of the Doctor. The promo image shows the The Silence are back.

Edit 2: Apparantly we're believing the article in The Mirror. Although other (more creditable) sources say that it isn't the end, Moffat has just changed the series rules.
