Downgrading House??? Inventory Upgrade???

I have the small house and like it, but my 80 item inventory limit is driving me crazy. I read that in order to upgrade your inventory you must upgrade your house. Is this true? If so, is there a way to downgrade your house size after?

Also does anyone know if the first camper you see in your campsite MUST move in? Or can you ignore them and get someone else the next day?

You must upgrade the house to get more storage and no way to downgrade.

I am pretty sure the first camper has to move in. Nook was very insistent but I’m not sure. I liked my first camper so I invited him anyway.

I'm totally the same way about not wanting to upgrade my house (I like just one room!)
But I don't think you can downgrade. Haven't tried of course but, just going off of new leaf.
Also I do think the camper has to move in, it made me have mine move in and on my boyfriend's game he said he tried everything he could think of to avoid the camper moving in, but it won't progress your quest line until you invite them to your island.

You just have to progress far enough in the game; Nook has you put in the campsite after some other task I can't remember

Im actually on the other side where I like more space on my house to decorate. I already saw the full expansion of the house and personally feel disappointed I expected more rooms and the ability to change the in-doors location and the room size! Like in happy home designer, don’t get me wrong I still love the hame and these is just something small.

Ok, so someone updated the wiki, and it appears, for max house inventory space, you only need to buy up to the first side room expansion (348,000 bells). No expansions after that give you extra house inventory it seems. It isn't as small as you might want it, but at least you don't have to max upgrade to get the max house inventory space.
