... When a friend/acquaintance of yours plays ACNL, knows nothing about what dreamies are, and ends up having one of your dreamies and not liking them?

My friend once had Whitney, one of my dreamies since I've had her in City Folk and Wild World and love her to death, and she didn't like her very much. When I asked if I could come over and bring her to my town when my friend let her move, my friend laughed and was like "Ha ha no I won't let you have her, just to spite you." and she ends up getting voided.

I just find it really mean sometimes that my friends do this to me. My other friend has Chief, another dreamy of mine, and I asked him, "Hey, if he ever decides to move out and you don't want him, can I have him?" and he laughs and tells me no because he "knows Chief is one of my favorite villagers and wants to see me get mad/upset over him not giving him to me".

I just feel bad because they get voided anyway, and even after offering to pay for them, they refused to give them to me cause they thought it was funny to joke around with me as a "friend".

I dunno I just felt like venting. D: Do any of your friends do this too? It doesn't bother me too much, obviously, I just think it's mean to void villagers that myself (and a lot of other people!) would love to have in their town.

They don't sound like very good friends and I think you should kick them to the curb. :T

But no, none of my friends have done this to me. They've all been very helpful.

I mean, they're just virtual animals. I don't think I should kick them to the curb for not giving me something in a video game. :c I just think it's really rude of them. If they didn't want to give them to me for free, or wanted to give them to someone else, that's fine. But they just... Get voided. The most I can do is hope I get them from the void once I have a spot open.

If that "friend" does it with virtual animals that are sentimental to youc think about what they'd do to IRL things "just to spite you"
Sounds like a bi*** tbh

I have to agree with others who've said that your friends don't seem like good friends based on this. Of course, I don't know anything about them. But I would expect my friends not to do things to spite me just to make me sad! You don't deserve that! :c

I do get a bit jealous of my friends when they've got something I want in a video game, but don't intend on letting me have it. I think that's only natural. As long as they're not doing it to spite you(!!) I think it's fair that each person gets to enjoy the luck they have and keep things to themselves. But I do hope that friends would be kind to me, as long as I treat them the same! That's what friends do.

I wouldn't have nearly as much fun playing ACNL if I wasn't able to share things with my friends and make them happy. So it's hard for me to imagine how your friends could do something like that.

Well that's annoying of them. Hopefully you have some other friends that aren't so amused by causing you frustration ._.

But nah, luckily my friends are always pretty generous. We help each other out with dreamies whenever we can c:

they don't understand us! it's like when someone is in love with a piece of paper and I rip it to pieces cause I think they're crazy and need help. that's probably what they're thinking...

however if you see them killing reall life small animals that means they're psychopaths and you're gonna be next so call the cops.

My friends don't play ACNL, but they do tease me all the time about it. One time I came to school with red eyes because Stitches had moved out, and I told them about it. They then proceeded to tease me all day about it, saying I shouldn't be so attached to virtual villagers. I STAYED UP UNTIL 3 AM GETTING THAT VILLAGER, SO YOU CAN JUST SHUT UP.

Yeaaaah no one who's actually a "friend" would do that.

You'd better ditch her before she does something worse. It doesn't matter if it's "just a game"; she spat in your face and betrayed your trust. There's certainly more from where that came from. 17 year olds do stupid ****, but honestly, she should've been a little more mature than that. So yeah. Agreeing with everyone else. Drop her like a hot potato.

It's two friends, though. Not one. ;; One of them is a girl and the other is a boy. I guess I should drop them both or at least talk to them about it, idunno.

Whoa, I just read the second part about the guy who has Chief.

You'd better run. And fast. These people are bad for you, and there are no more telltale signs that you need. They will not stop here in trying to screw you over. Call me cynical but I see the signs. Get the hell out of there for your own safety.

At nicest, you could talk to them about it. At safest, leave. They sound toxic and they sound like they're plotting to just screw you over at some point and I know I sound cynical as hell but I've had this **** happen to me so many times I'm sick of seeing people fall victim to it. Stop it before it gets out of hand. Don't get yourself hurt, love.

Not trying to stray you from friendship, but it really doesn't sound very friendly of them. It's what friendship is all about, after all. <3

And keep in mind: talking to them does not mean they will be honest, does not mean they will show mercy, and does not mean it might not hurt you even more. Just be careful.

Well that's kind of rude. I think everyone's overreacting a bit by telling you to drop these friends just because of this one piece of information. For some people the game may not be a big deal, so they might not realize exactly how difficult it is to get certain villagers. Maybe they just saw it as eating the last cookie in front of you that you really wanted or something. Disappointing, but you can always get more cookies at a later time(I don't know, I'm bad at analogies). If this is something prevalent throughout your friendship and concerning more than just Animal Crossing you might want to think about whether the friendship is really worth it though. If it bothers you too much you can try talking to them though, and let them know how important it is to you. If they still don't think it's a big deal and it bothers you a lot, you could try distancing yourself from them for a bit to see if that gets the point across.

I have to agree with most people here, they are not your friends. If they do things out of spite just because they want to see you get upset/angry, they are not friends.
As Shirohibiki said, they will try to screw you over with other, more important things as well in the future.

It seems a bit of an over-reaction just from that little bit of information but more than likely they will get worse. People like that can do any kind of nasty things, ruin your job, your relationships and will try to get in the way of you bettering yourself if you ever try to do something like diet or learn a new skill.
You're better off without them.

Edit: Or to get those voided villagers you could hang around and hope they move to your town from the void.
