it's a beautiful bikini bottom day!
Well that's kind of rude. I think everyone's overreacting a bit by telling you to drop these friends just because of this one piece of information. For some people the game may not be a big deal, so they might not realize exactly how difficult it is to get certain villagers. Maybe they just saw it as eating the last cookie in front of you that you really wanted or something. Disappointing, but you can always get more cookies at a later time(I don't know, I'm bad at analogies). If this is something prevalent throughout your friendship and concerning more than just Animal Crossing you might want to think about whether the friendship is really worth it though. If it bothers you too much you can try talking to them though, and let them know how important it is to you. If they still don't think it's a big deal and it bothers you a lot, you could try distancing yourself from them for a bit to see if that gets the point across.
I know it seems like overreaction, but I've seen those words before in different context. And I've seen things happen to other people. I'm not saying everyone is bad, but if they're already starting to show their true selves like this, don't you think it might be a valid point?
"Just to spite you."
"Just to watch you get mad/upset/cry."
Those are horrible things to say someone unless you're joking -- which they were clearly not. Usually you and I are on the same page, but I'm going to stand my ground here. There's tons of stuff we don't know, but from what we do know, I'd say it's enough to encourage anyone who's feeling unsure to leave and find better people.
