Don't stress- we're not a month in yet

Looking forward to egg day tomorrow? :D

I see a lot of people getting upset because they see nice islands and look at their own as less, and getting upset theirs isn't perfect like the ones you find online.

Here's to reminding everyone the game has been out for less than one month and people will probably still be adding to their town a year from now as they experience different seasons and get new furniture. You don't need to rush to getting your 'dream villagers' within the next week or terraforming your entire island at once. Just play the game the way that makes you happy knowing you have months until people will expect you to perfect everything. The good part of this game is that you can move almost everything so if you ever regret anything you can move it when you regret it so don't hesitate to move everything into a location which you're not 100% confident with. Experiment and play at your own pace! : )

Very true!

In fact, I’m always a bit shocked whenever I see people near whatever they consider completion of their Island.

Taking my time and seeing the Island undergo several changes over months of playing is part of the game to me. I’m actually hoping to go through a few “casts” of villagers before settling on a permanent lineup (with some exceptions of course—Katt and Antonio forever)

EDIT: Very disappointed I can’t select multiple answers for the survey btw xD

Thank you for this. People sadly fall into the trap of comparing themselves to others in most aspects of life, but it's always a good reminder that there's no need to put ourselves down. A lot of those perfect looking designer towns were put together quickly for the sole purpose of showing them off to others (I don't mean this in a negative way). The players quickly rushed through and got everything unlocked specifically so they could put something beautiful together and post them up on social media.

I'm not overly concerned with rushing to have the most beautiful town immediately. Goodness I hardly have any decor I find appealing yet so I can hardly get decorating done. I'm looking forward to getting more unlocked though! I'm just taking it one day at a time and enjoying what the game offers to me each day.

Yes and no. Yes because its a holiday in Animal Crossing. Always fun to just goof off. On the other hand, I can stop getting those darn eggs the following day.

I have put minimal effort into terraforming my Island, and I am very happy with how it naturally looks. People keep complimenting it, and I barely did anything besides minorly adjust a few river edges for bridges and add a few paths...

I am taking the game at my own pace, and am enjoying it.

I don't want to be mean but those perfect town feel as fake as the person designing it. It literally just for view to stroke their own ego or money via streaming. My interaction with some of those people have always been very fake. Always trying to deny they time travel. I mean one of the Youtuber even show he duping and then backtrack and said he work hard for his "counterfeit bells".

Fake people with their fake town. They fail to realize having a perfect town not even one month in kill the incentive to continue to play. Why do you even want a perfect town right now? Unless you want to "beat" this game and play other game.

Why do they deny it? They obviously TT, those who’ve done their towns completely. There’s no way they don’t as I don’t TT and just recently got my terraforming permits a week ago and since then I’ve been moving buildings and homes where they belong which is a painfully slow process because you can only move one a day. Same with bridges and inclines which you can only build one a day. It’s impossible to have built a complete town by now without TT. Also, most of them have all the items / furnitures unlocked already. They could’ve done trading but it would still take a lot of time to get all those DIY recipes and items and an almost complete catalogue in less than a month into the game just confirms TT.

I mean if that's what makes them the happiest, to rush to get a pretty island put together for likes on their social media, they are welcome to do that. Lying about it isn't cool, but I think most people would know they did at least some level of time traveling. It's not the way I'd personally choose to play, and I do kind of frown upon that behavior a bit since it spoils certain things for people playing at a natural pace, but I just avoid those pages until I'm far enough progressed into the game to not be bothered by seeing all those advanced things anymore

I love taking my time but still get disheartened sometimes when I see sone of the incredible areas people have created on their islands.

Its not the being behind in the development that bothers me, its the conviction that I can never create something as beautiful as the things I've witnessed on some of the islands that are showpieces on youtube for example.

However, it is improving and I alrwady can see it getting better. The thought I can always change it makes me more at rest.

Even though I don't have to go as fast as others, it sometimes feels it would be nice to be at that same level of paradise. But like others said, sculpting your town over seasons is part of the appeal.

Although I do TT, I do so when I have extra time on my hand and know I wont be able to enjoy the next "actual" day as much. With trying to balance college and having enough free time for myself, I find that there are days where I get through my errands and have extra time to play so I go forward a day just to get some extra game play in. My town is for sure advancing, but definitely not as quick as some other people. However they choose to play is what satisfies them so it's not up to me to have any say, and I have to say that some of these towns are impressive for sure!

I am just playing at my own pace and doing what makes me happy :) I find that terraforming is definitely a neat feature, seeing that I have my house on the 2nd level of cliff with waterfalls right when you walk out, and a cute neighborhood for all my residents with even a "marketplace" area for my shops.

This game is the one thing keeping me occupied among the quarantine!

But, what if I want to vote yes? 😁

I don't worry about people who rush the game. I do feel a bit annoyed with people who rush the game and then complain about it. But, it is their game and what they do does not affect my experience with the game.

This is a great sentiment and outlook to have. My priority now is to make my island as efficient and functional as possible, to obtain enough bells and cataloging items as I can before really hunkering down and planning how to tweak my island. I know whatever Nintendo has up its sleeve in terms of content will throw a wrench into things so I'm not worried about having a social media friendly island.

I'll occasionally TT a day forward but never any further than that.

I think those picture-esque villages are cute/pretty and all but they all feel kinda "manufactured", but there's nothing wrong with that if that's what people want, it's really up to them.

Realistically, if I wanted to get there without TT, I would have to grind the game a lot or trade frequently. However, I don't trade (too many bad experiences) and I don't like having to grind for fish (especially with how annoying the fish eggs are) so it's going to take me a while.

I'm just glad the eggs are gonna stop. Plus it's an event, so that's always fun.
