It seems that most peoples Dreamies are usually Top Tier Villagers, however I believe some of the lower Tiers have such cute and memorable Villagers that are often overlooked.

So, does Villager Popularity influence your choice for Dreamies?

Yes, in a way. Its like a superiority thing for me, having villagers that are sometimes pretty hard to get. High tier villagers are always usually pretty cute anyways, and I looove cute villagers.

I do have a tier 5 though that I just grew too attached to, I couldn't let him go. He's my favourite villager and I think he's one of the cutest, personally.

The biggest factor in whether or not I want a villager is how cute they are, though.

edit: Wait if Melba is tier 5 too then I have two tier 5 villagers! Too lazy to check.

Villager popularity has never influenced my dreamie choice.

I have seven dreamies, and none of them are tier 1. Five of them were decided before I even knew villager tier lists even existed, and the other two were decided because I really liked one since the moment I saw them in my campsite, and the other because I think they're adorable.

Two are from tier two, two are from tier three, one is from tier four and two are from tier five. So my dreamies range from being pretty popular (but not the most popular) to not popular at all.

not at all. i don't care how popular or unpopular a villager is, a lot of my faves are low tier. i think letting popularity dictate if you like or dislike a villager is kind of pathetic, honestly. i've also seen people like a villager solely because they are UNpopular. that's dumb too.

Not at all. I don't pay attention to what's popular. I don't really have a list of dreamies, but there are lots of villagers I love and would be happy to get. I even love some "ugly," unpopular villagers like Tabby.

i'd agree a majority of my dream villagers are in the higher, if not highest, tiers. but this is only because of a personal preference and possibly nostalgia. if I think a villager is cute, I will add it to my dreamie list. An example of an unpopular villager I have is O'Hare - he's tier 3, I think, and I love him so much because he's adorable and was my first ever dream villager. I also have a soft spot for Fauna, my favourite villager, and Opal, one of my first villagers upon purchasing the game.

The short answer is no it does not : D

my dreamies (got them all thankfully) and their tier:

Tier 2: Poppy
Tier 3: Peanut
Tier 4: Static, Hazel
Tier 5: Blaire, Caroline, Drake, Kidd, Sheldon, Ricky

However, I did go to dream addresses to see if the popular dreamies were to my taste.

Im not a big fan of wolves and bears (bulky, too tall of a villager)...
Cat, deers, and bunny villagers are popular & likeable too but yeah squirrels are the best!
Flurry almost had my heart, almost ^^

If I could add more villagers to my town, it would be: filbert, mint, cally, marshal, flurry, diana, soleli, mira, coco, and zucker!
Ive had filbert, mint, cally, and marshal but I lost them through time traveling trying to get my other dreamies! Ive had mira, coco, zucker, and mira... super cute but wouldnt make it to 10 dreamie list!

Like pafupafu, I think I rather look for whatever it cute and I guess sometimes small = cute. The squirrels have won over my heart over hamsters and mouse villagers. Their tail is just so nice and cute when they walk around town. Kidd is adorable and replaced marshal (super popular) who I loved very much but accidentally lost through time traveling. Kidd's tall, blue, lean, but fashionable and super caring<3 An exception to my squirrel villager love.

As for personality .... I enjoy all villager personality types, gives variety. Even though I find normal and peppy villagers adorable and relate to them most (book reading, baking, being a scholar, gardening etc), I wouldn't just want those two types to be the only types in my town. I like Sheldon my jock squirrel. He's yellow ball of energy and buff, dont know why but I find him super cute because of that. Of course, if I actually said that to him and if he can respond back, he probably wouldnt like that fact. He's always taking manly advice from Static, apparently Static is the man/alpha of the town : p

I have dream villagers in every tier, and a lot of them are on the lower end of the spectrum. Tier lists don't influence my choices. It's all dependent on the unique features the specific villagers have.

Only to the extent that there are some villagers who are so ubiquitous in terms of popularity that I don't feel the need to ever have them in my town because I know I could see them in a gazillion other towns. But even then, if I really liked that villager, I'd still invite them if they camped, etc. I

I actually find it kind of weird when people talk about super popular villagers in terms of rarity and prestige (lol), because typically those villagers don't feel rare to me at all. I would think that the "rarest" villagers are the ones who are almost never up for sale/trade in the various villager marketplaces.

No. I pick my villagers in terms of cuteness, and how much I've loved them in past incarnations of the game.
The only time I've been concerned with villager popularity was when I sold a few populars for bells (when I was saving for the bell badges).

no. admittedly i have many high tier dreamies, but the thing is, they're popular because they're appealing. i like them, a lot of other people like them, it makes sense.

Nah, not really. Most of my dreamies happen to be higher tiers but I guess they're popular for a reason. lol I mean I would prefer not to have the same villagers that literally everyone else has *cough*Marshal*cough* which is why I'm cycling a few out and still deciding whether or not to get Beau but it doesn't matter too much. I mean I have 5 wolves, 3 of which are tier 1, so clearly I don't mind that much lmao I didn't even know there were tiers or villager trading until I saw this website, so I felt pretty lucky to have gotten Chief, Fang, Bam, and Marshal all from my own campsite. And tbqh a lot of higher tier villagers don't appeal to me. Like Zucker, Stitches, and Merengue. (Obviously tons of people like them and that's fine, to each their own.)

TL;DR: No.

to add to my previous post, a lot of my dream villagers are very heavily themed, as these are themes i would like presented in my town. (unicorn, clown, ancient egypt, space, live stuffed animal, etc.) since my town is inspired by children's fantasy, surrealism and star people, i want my villagers to reflect that. and, needless to say, many of the gimmicky characters are pretty popular.

not really. i have a few tier ones in my town, but it's not really be ause they're popular
although to be fair if marina would have been tier 5 i maybe wouldnt have invited her from the campsite... i knew that if i didn't like her late i could just sell her so i invited her, which i do not regret. i had 3 or 4 normals at the time, but now the only normal left is her and i'm not planning on letting her move any time soon :>
