just wanted to ask for verification if travelling forward - skipping the move in days for a villager, will trigger the exterior swap glitch, or if its just travelling backwards.

not that i am advocating it but.... 👀 i really wanna switch this incoming villagers exterior w the previous one but dont wanna TT backwards
😂

edit: FURTHER Q: is it JUST the empty plot sold day or is it the move in day when a house shows up? because otherwise this isnt possible with an invited villager, right ? 🤔🤔🤔

it only happens when you travel backwards during the move process. Going forward doesn't glitch it.

This isn't correct.

Skipping the plot sold day is what causes the glitch, not TTing in general. TTing backwards will cause it, as will TTing forwards but skipping the day. However, playing naturally but just not loading the save on that day will also cause the glitch.

This goes without saying, but while there haven't been any negative side effects associated with the glitch, do it at your own risk.

Its an odd glitch, I hear it's just with TTing backwards, but I've had it with TTing backwards, and waiting for them to fully move out. With midge I waited and she moved into Soleil's exterior

Just want to point out this is incorrect as both TT'ing forward and backwards can cause the glitch, people who don't TT apparently are at risk of the glitch as well

is it possible to skip to 11:59 PM and just wait until the day changes without the exterior being glitched?

day changes dont happen at midnight, its 5am !

Animal Crossing days start at 5 a.m., so 11:59 p.m. won't work regardless. : P

But to actually answer your question, I'm not 100% sure. But I imagine that as long as you load the save and spend a few minutes on the "plot sold" day, you'll be fine. It's probably best to set it a few minutes behind to give you enough time to load the save and save the game.

I've cycled out a lot of villagers now by tting forward and never had the exterior glitched out. I'm not TTing day by day either so that's really odd. It only happened to me when I TT'd backwards.

Well if anything learned from this thread, it's that TTing backwards will for sure glitch the exterior if thats what you want. TTing forward "MIGHT" glitch it.

I'm literally thinking it's not a glitch and Nintendo's way of saying: "Don't time travel!"

this is one of the cooler glitches cause one of my friend glitched the exterior of the villagers home to keep to his asian themed island but he has raymond, audie, and marshal.

yeah, tho i am unclear if you've already been on the plot sold day but skip the actual move in day if it will happen.
like most things, the best way to check is peobably just to NikeTM Do It

literally what i want to do - trade genji's exterior for baabara's 😂😂

i TT forward three days from inviting a camper in cause i wanted them to move in already and the glitch occurred so yeah it happens if you TT forward as well

I recently have done this without the glitch happening.
I did not TT at all, but I'd imagine it is the same with TT.

You have to play everyday of the process.
1) Villager A Packing
2) Villager A Moved Out - Empty Plot
3) Villager B Unpacking
4) Villager B Officially Moved In.

If you miss any of these days, the glitch will happen most likely.

I'm testing a campsite reset method by moving in unwanted villagers so they do not show up in the cycle of the campsite reset and also obtaining their posters in the meantime.

You can also get it from TT forward. If you don't move in the villager properly regardless if you TT forward or backwards the glitch can happen.
