Does This Sound Like Something Nintendo Would Do?

So, I was getting frustrated with my inability to catch a scorpion. I was on a NMT island, where I cut down and dug up all the trees, got rid of all the flowers, continued to scare off ground dwelling, allowing myself to be bit by mosquitos, and did catch and release with giant water bugs. Despite all this, I lost out on 5 or 6 scorpions. So, as a way to blow off some steam, I went to a forum game called Corrupt a Wish. The premise of the game is that you make a wish, and the next person to post grants it with a twist. My wish was that you could donate to other people's museums in New Horizons. The person who posted the corruption for that wish said "Granted, but to do so you will need a phone app called Crossing share, which is free but only works to save stuff for yourself. In order to donate to someone's museum you will have to pay a monthly subscription to unlock it."

That got me thinking. Does that sound like an app Nintendo would make? I mean, the Switch Online Club app brings a bit more fun into New Horizons by allowing you to take designs from New Leaf and transfer them over to your New Horizons character, so I don't think making an app that lets you trade bugs and fish with other players is out of the realm of possibility. What do you guys think? And would you use this feature if Nintendo did create an app that allows you to trade creatures?

No. It's never been a possibility in the previous titles, and I don't see them wanting to start now. I can't obviously answer for the ACNH team but usually you want your game to have some kind of challenge for the player. Like certain things should be locked to the player, in this case it's bugs, fish and deep sea critters.

Animal crossing in general is a relatively easy game. It's not like you have grind to fight monsters, find equipment; there's no heavy rpg elements. It's kind of sandbox-like, sim simulator with some farming mechanic. The bugs, fish and etc are the hard parts for the game.

Personally, hunting for rare bugs and fish is annoying but I wouldn't want to trade for them. I like the feeling of conquering a mountain (in this case catching a rare fish) is a good achievement in a game, lol.

I agree with the comments above. I’m not super into grinding to get the available bugs, though I’m now making a half-hearted attempt for the last three beetles I need before the end of the month.

it can get frustrating, yes, but at some point the game has to have some kind of stakes/ challenge. It’s a very easy going game, but if everything is effortless to achieve, where would the satisfaction be? If someone else completes your museum for you, then completing the museum becomes meaningless.

donating to the museum is a good feeling, but also there’s no rush, or negative consequences to taking longer to complete the collection.

finally, me personally, I would actually really hate it if nintendon started adding misc. paid subscriptions for game features on top of the base game. (I know we pay the Nintendo online services, and don’t want to go into my thinking on that, but basically I can understand it/ it is what it is, but not so into it I want to keep piling on more fees)

They are your accomplishments. Personally I love it when I have a really rare hard to catch thing donated and then seeing other people struggling to find one.

Collecting stuff for the museum I think is my absolute favorite thing to do in the game.
I don't know if Nintendo would do something like that. My guess would be no, unless a bunch of people complained about finding the stuff.. however they do have the ability to change spawn rates of stuff (as we have seen) so they very well may just do that if it was a large complaint.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo allowed other people to donate. It's not something I necessarily support, but someone can already change the time of their island and other people can come and visit to catch specific bugs. That's not that far off in my opinion.

this likely will never happen; you’ve only been able to donate stuff to your own museum for the entirety of this franchise and so i don’t see that changing anytime soon; adding to your own museum has always been a huge part of what animal crossing is or at least, that’s how i feel about it aha. besides, i wouldn’t ever want somebody to donate to my museum for me; i wanna obtain and catch everything myself;v;

Since it's your museum, I think it's more logical that only you can donate bugs/fish/etc. After all, it is kinda one of the challenges (or tasks to say it that way) from the game to complete it. At least personally, it's more fun to collect all the bugs on my own and donate them afterwards directly to the museum instead of having random people showing up and doing it for me. It feels like as if I don't put any effort at all into this and that's not what makes the game for me.

What next?
You may as well have someone else play the game for you. :)
Reminds me of that one classmate I had back in school who actually asked her friends to play Wild World for her since she was "too busy" taking care of her town and then afterwards even had the nerves to complain when her friends messed up something (no joke, this was going on for like 2 years before she gave up completely and had enough of it).

Absurd.

Nobody should be able to donate to your museum, as it's your museum, and your job to fill it.

What next?

Well some of us can't get past a part of the game. I Can't get pass a part in metel gear soild Peace walker. So I Can understand if other need a little help catching bugs or fish.

I see points from both sides, and while for the most part, I do agree about the satisfaction of catching a fish or bug that's been giving you trouble, if this app became a thing, I wouldn't use it very often, but another way of looking at it is trading creatures with someone from the opposite hemisphere, somebody from the Northern Hemisphere trading creatures with somebody from the Southern Hemisphere, it would make it easier to get bugs that aren't available in your Hemisphere at the current time. And honestly, I wouldn't use it to set up a creature shop.

If you look long enough, and fish in the right spots depending on what you're after, you will catch what you need.

On the first of every month, I catch everything I haven't caught before.
Then I can relax the rest of the month.

If you put in a little time and effort, it's not that hard.

If you go to bed early before a certain bug or fish spawns, then set the time to night or early morning.

sounds so sketchy... i would not do it

And i heard Nintendo said DO NOT BUY anything like that

That does not sound like something they would do at all. Also, I would personally be quite disappointed if someone came over and donated something to my museum, especially if it were something rare or something from a month that I haven't been able to access yet.

Ok, let me rephrase this, the app lets you trade creatures with other players. Forget about other people donating to your museum, just the part about trading creatures with one another.

Let me repost: Dumb idea. may as well have someone play the game for you. it's not a competition to complete your museum. and it's supposed to take a long time, that way you'll be tempted to play the game longer (which the game devs want) and you can enjoy that aspect of the game longer.

i myself am NOT looking forward to catching the last 15 or so bugs and whatnot, cuz then... oof. No more fun over dere. Once my museum is complete, I may as well reset my island ngl. My fossil museum is already complete. At least they added the new art section, which could potentially take forever HA

Why not travel to an island in the opposite hemisphere and catch them yourself? The only thing I've noticed that we can't catch is the dung beetle.
