I would normally poll this on GameFAQs, but GameFAQs in general tend to be more male populated.

Maybe the same reason COD has primarily more male players. Male players for this game, as female players are not for games like COD are not non-existent, but I guess the game has more female appeal.

Hm...there was another poll on this, and if I remember correctly the majority was girls. I think it was also by a relatively significant amount.

Edit: The poll showed that about 2/3 members are female.

Gamefaqs is more "male populated" because the minute they find out someone is female, all hell breaks loose.
But female here.

It's weird for me that people still think that games are mostly for males and that any non-violent game equates to "female interests". I've met plenty of women who not only play COD, but horror, point-and-click games, even MMORPGs.

Hell, I bought GTAV when it came out and it's sitting there at 30% completion. Does that make me less of a man? Nope. All the swearing, raging and killing just wasn't doing it for me, at least not in long gaming sessions. Sometimes I just want to relax after a hard day and just fish for Stringfish. :P

No, no that's Reddit you're thinking of.

There is a poll for which gender you are in Brewsters Caf?, and *I think* there's over 100 more female users than males.

No. It's gamefaqs. And I'm saying that because it's happened to me and I've seen it happen countless other times.

GameFAQs is a weird place. I think a topic about made up sister-sister incest made it to 500 post, in less than a day in the Pokemon board.

Really? People on GameFaqs know I'm female and I've never met any harsh reception.

Why I said Reddit, is because Reddit is known for being a highly misogynistic website.

I've never been to reddit.

On gamefaqs all I did was post in the pokemon forum "help a lady out" and I got accused of being a man pretending to be female to get help.

What exactly is that poll supposed to show? That there are more males? >\> I hope you know that if there was an option for
"I'm bacon and play as bacon"
It would've gotten 90% of all votes because that's the mentality over there. Showing me a poll where anyone can lie about it isn't exactly convincing.

I'm a female and I don't play any other games apart from Animal Crossing

Well, I can't really go by anything other than polls.

Publically, there are many more female individuals playing Animal Crossing, because in society now, it's perfectly normal for the female populace to play casual games, especially life simulators, and those with a cutesy aesthetic.

But I really don't buy public opinion. Just as many girls and women wish for intricate, 'dark' gaming to challenge their minds, I am sure many boys and men wish to simply settle down with a friendly, cute, therapeudic, 'light' game.

Our modern society is both mysoginist and misandrist, because of the gender 'norms', so not only do women suffer in the gaming community for not being taken seriously, men also suffer from all these expectations. The genderqueer also suffer for their lack of representation in the whole equation.

So my answer would be that it doesn't really matter- Animal Crossing is enjoyed by like-minded individuals of all genders. c:

Does this mean, girls find men who play casual games unattracive? <.<
Idk, I feel like playing games at all, makes me look like a nerd, when done in public. This wasn't a problem in my previous school, but I felt more safe, and had better friends there. Where I go now, there's more parties, and raves. Noone really seem to care about actually acomplish anything with their time in school. (I switched line from Natural Science to Social Behavior, so I'm obviously not around the same kind of people anymore.)

im a girl yeah
i know some dudes who play it ?? i think i have more friends on here tht are dudes anyway idk

i feel like if there wasnt this "casual games are for women, if you play it then youre a loser" attitude for men. and how women arent really accepted into games like COD? its disgusting. if men wanna play cute games then fine! do your thing! i wont laugh at you for it. heck there was even a post on tumblr about a strong man at the gym sitting down to play animal crossing with someone.

and yeah reddit is gross. dunno about gamefaqs bc i dont use it often

Oh and I really don't care about whether anyone is male or female. I don't judge by stereotypes, and I don't say "oh they're male so they shouldn't be playing casual games" or "oh this game is aimed towards females". This game is aimed at anyone who wants to play casually, and that's the end of it. Whether it's targeted at men or women, children or adults, I don't really know and don't want to speculate. Do some males feel like it's a "girl's game"? Maybe, but I do not know myself. I don't generalise or stereotype at all :) And Omfa, I'll find a man attractive if he's comfortable being himself, no matter what he plays or doesn't play :)
