There was this thing in ac for gc that if you named your char a video game char, ex:Link, and matched it with the town name ex: Hyrule, you would get a special item. Does that apply here?

I think they did special codes for people with certain town names/ towns in GC.

And no they don't do it in city folk because there are no codes for trading.
