Does talking to villagers more than once a day increase friendship?

I know that talking to a villager once a day increases your friendship with them but I was wondering if you talk to them often each day, if their friendship increases as well. Can anyone answer this question? I would be glad to know

I talk to certain villagers (my favorites) multiple times a day and it definitely seems like their friendship with my character is much higher than the other villagers that I speak to only once or twice a day. The more frequently you talk to them, the faster you'll become friends with them. Well.. I think so, anyways. Don't quote me on that xD

I can't confirm anything, but it does indeed seem like talking to them throughout the day could potentially have some kind of effect. The villagers who I check in with more often seem to have more of an expanded dialogue.
