So I reserved Paper Jam to get it upon release. I'm about 4 hours in from this weekend and about to face the boss in Doop Doop Dunes tomorrow after work. I have beat Paper Mario and Paper Mario TTYD and TTYD is my favorite Mario RPG I've played. I also started Sticker Star but stopped around the time I was collecting Wiggler segments. This is my first Mario and Luigi game and I've watched videos from every other entry in the series. I really enjoy this game. It is a huge step up from Sticker Star because of character dialoge, which is the main reason I play these games. It is the same generic formula with characters and worlds, though. What is your opinion if you're a fan?

Dream Team was better in almost every way. But the only game that had a fair difficulty was the first one. Haven't played much of PiT, but that's supposed to be pretty challenging. BIS was way too easy and this is possibly even easier than that. Dream Team was the only one that was unfairly difficult at times since most bosses had an attack to instantly wipe out your entire party and the motion controls in a later boss *coughgiantrainbowbirdcough* were annoying to deal with. Also bosses in hard mode could take almost an hour to beat due to their defense being 7 TIMES HIGHER THAN NORMAL

...Yes I'm saying the game that was too difficult at times is my favorite don't judge me.
1. M&L Dream Team
2. PM Thousand-Year Door
3. M&L Bowser's Inside Story (Although Paper Jam may take this spot)
4. Super PM
5. M&L Superstar Saga
6. PM 64
7. M&L Partners in Time (Because again I haven't played much of it)
8-25,000. Empty Spaces
25,001. PM Sticker Star
:)

Okay so now that I've played more (almost to the end but I know everything that happens between where I'm at and the ending plus some endgame stuff) I think I have a better opinion on the game.
Okay I'll start off with the 2 biggest shockers for me, how easy it was compared to other games and how short it was.
I've been under leveled throughout the entire game and I've never had to battle a boss more than 3 times, once to just practice against dodging attacks, and the next try or 2 I just steamroll through the boss like it was no problem despite being underleveled. All of the bosses are extremely fun, it's just a shame that they're nothing compared to other bosses in the series in terms of putting up an actual battle.
I heard that you could beat this game in 20-25 hours which is a bit under average for the series which I think is like 30 hours. But I didn't realize how fast those hours went by. I think one reason is because every other game in the series had some kind of "collecting quest" where you went and explored older areas for an important item. (The Beanstar in SS, the Miracle Cure in BIS, and the Ultibed in DT are what I'm thinking of.) In this game, it was basically go to an area, do some stuff, go to the next area, after exploring every area, go rn through them again and yay you're done. There aren't that many areas to begin with and running through them the second time took almost no time at all. The second Doop Doop Dunes visit took me maybe 15-30 minutes? And then I never had to go back there even though it felt pretty small the first time going through.
Another problem is the removal of hard mode that SS and DT had. Being an easier game and having DT bring it back, I thought this game would have it. Nope! So not only do you have a short and easy game by series standards, it doesn't even have hard mode to add replay value. :/

It's great if it's your first game in the series, but it's just meh if you've played most or all of the other games.
