does it really matter what your native fruit is?

Your native fruit is on your passport information, so if that matters to you then yes. If not, no.

You may be able to get all fruit variety, but the only perfect fruit you'll get is that of your native fruit. I imagine this is why people are adamant about which they prefer.

Native fruit doesn't really matter to me, I'm fine with any of them :D
But, I think some people do not like certain fruit or do not want a specific fruit shown on their passport.

I’d love to have pears or peaches, I’d settle for apples, I really don’t want oranges or cherries.

I live in Florida, I deal with oranges enough here; and I just don’t like how cherries taste.

Oh my gosh, yes. It matters a lot to me. :lemon:
I always want apples or cherries. Any others and I restart.
However I may end up settling for others depending on how eager I am to just start playing.

It doesn't matter to me personally, but I can see why others might like it. Maybe they're trying to go for a specific theme and that fruit fits it. Or maybe they want their favorite fruit. Your island's fruit does show up on your passport, unlike previous games.

I just try to get the best looking perfect fruit, since I can't plant other types of perfect fruit trees. I love how normal peaches look, but I can plant them anytime. I can't plant perfect cherry trees if I have peaches and so on. I've been hoping we have the ability to plant multiple kinds of perfect fruit trees in this game, but I won't hold my breath.

We still don't know what the perfect fruit looks like in NH yet but I'm most likely gonna go for cherries, I always loved how they looked in NL. Cherries are also one of my favorite fruit irl, so :p

I only want peaches or cherries for my native fruit. It's important to me but I know others don't care as much.

like others have said, it matters for perfect fruit and your passport. but we literally haven't seen any instance of perfect fruit existing in this game, so it's mainly for your passport now. it also matters for crafting because we can craft furniture with our native fruit, like a peach chair or a cherry radio. so if you care about which fruit furniture you can craft and which fruit appears on your passport, then i would recommend resetting for your ideal native fruit.

i low key wish we can have different perfect fruits as well but yeah, to me native fruit matters at least a little, especially at the start of the game.

That’s exactly why I want peaches. It’s going to go with my girly island aesthetic, lol.

it really doesn't matter in the long run as you can grow all of them anyways, but it's really personal preference! i personally love peaches and i hope i get them as my native fruit!

Your native fruit is something you can't change, and like f.e. pears don't suit a lot of popular themes. It's important for a lot of people what fruits they grow on their island, even if they have trees for everything. It's an attribute about your island/town.

For me, I go with Apples because they're nostlagic for me (I grew up with Apple trees in my house and hometown) and I think it's the most basic option in the game so I don't have to worry about it not suiting me years down the line.

Yes it matters. I had all the perfect fruit in ACNL and perfect apples are my favorite. They are pretty next to cedar trees in the winter.

Passport is news for me. I wouldn't reset for a passport.

Fingers crossed for Peaches, cherries, or apples, I really hate the way perfect pears look (and regular pears look in general)

i have my fruit preferences like anyone else but i'm not picky enough to reset a ton to get the exact fruit i want. i totally agree- you technically get them all anyway and can purge your town of fruit you don't like and plant up as much of what you do like anytime, so i don't worry too much :)

the fruit furniture people brought up above is interesting though! :)

not necessarily. i mean, if it matters to you what fruit is on your passport or what perfect fruit you have (assuming it’s still in the game), it might matter in that aspect. there’s also been some speculation that you can craft fruit furniture based on your native fruit, too, but besides all that, it’s mainly just about what you prefer lol
