Does it make sense to have an observatory in the basement ?

I really wanted to make a small observatory in the attic, but my attic was upgraded and looks very big, plus I already have that room decorated as well as my other rooms. The only available one is The basement. I feel like observatorys should be in the attic though. Is it strange to see one in the basement?

Maybe a bit different, but different is a good thing! Room size definitely has more of an impact than room location.

If I remember correctly, there's a wallpaper that looks like the night sky - using that, it would be impossible to tell that the observatory is in the basement at all. Rather, it would look like it was under the stars!

... please excuse my unsolicited suggestions.

A nice thing about having it in the basement - no windows to break up the walls. It will give you more of a complete "view", since you'll only have the one doorway.

I figure, it's your town and house, you should do it up the way you like. :)

Yeah it really shouldn't matter. If you like the basement because it's smaller than the other parts of your house and don't really mind that it's below ground, just go for it! I think it'd be cool! You could even add stuff that isn't normally used (because it's below ground)

I think it would look fine, as others have said. It might feel more like a... simulation observatory? A planetarium? Especially with that wallpaper. It would be neat! I have an observatory, and I made it the upstairs room. My only regret is having a first-floor bedroom now, which feels strange to me (even though I've mostly lived in first-floor bedrooms lol). But then again, I also had other plans for my basement ^^
