Does anyone use two ACNL copies on the same system? Advice needed~

I have both a physical and digital copy on my 3DS. Physical was bought on release day and digital one month later. I've had no problems with either.

For streetpass tags you have to open the town that's working on the badge. I messed up early on and lost some tags.

I got my digital copy thru Ebgame which is Gamestops in the US. They have a ACNL card or print you out a code to put in when you get home. You don't need to put money in the Eshop. You do have to go to the Eshop and put the code in. It takes awhile to download. I've bought two digital copies and didn't have to pay sale tax in Canada. The Eshop will charge you sale tax.
Save some money doing it this way.

If you have a lot of online friends ask for help moving items. I used my adult sons 3DS and did it once a month. Got everything ready before I asked. The digital copy make moving items faster. No shutting down and replacing the physical copy.

Before I was gifted a second ds that I haven't started even using yet, I had more than two copies physical on carts one machine, as they saved only to cart I chose this option not digital. No you can't visit yourself or move things or villagers to yourself, but having a second ds I can tell you the one time I had to to save someone it was hard running to at once at first. I have done second or even third town on one machine for a long time and had no issues, but it's been all cart, and when you do ever get a second machine you can worry about the rest. But if you want a second town Id say go for it with the one you already have and would suggest keeping to physical cart.

I was reading back through and as having more than one copy you can fall behind playing one to much and get your dates off..a tip here is just keep a notecard or book and write your last played dates and times for each and your good. Some people don't like skipping large chunks of time so I go back and fall behind current date but that's ok, I don't mind towns in different seasons or anything but I do like playing day by day so I just write them down.

Now with the new machine am still figuring it all out but it is much easier with carts but I'm still no expert there am still trying to slowly move things around get it right finish last dream town then try a cycle with the new ds after or work on during while I start planning. But as long as you note your last played dates it's not really tting just going back if have been gone awhile with no suprise missing dreams and such. Plus with two towns you can be in different times without it getting boring same events at same times, it's a personal choice when you chose your start date as, I always put mine a little earlier as play a lot in the beginning day by day but that's up to you if you want them the same, it won't affect the towns it's just writing it down.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I purchased a second physical copy the other day, and so am no longer in need to help. I would however still be happy to discuss managing multiple copies with people! ^^

Spreadsheets will be your best friend (if you care that much). I keep spreadsheets for my towns to keep inventories and other aspects straight between my four towns. I may be kind of obsessed

And I thought I was the only one.

I also always write down the date when I'm finished playing so if I miss a few days, I can go right back to where I left off. That ALONE takes a lot of stress out of the game for me. :)

I switch between two cartridges on one DS, one is my main town and one is my cycle town. I just borrow a DS from someone if I need to swap stuff between towns. It hasn't really been a problem for me, however I can imagine if you wanted to build a second town and needed stuff from your first to help development it you would have a problem. But other than that it's been fine for my purposes, no data overwrites/etc and they do share the same friend code which I actually like :)

That's actually a pretty good idea! I have been playing both so far (I'm only about or 5 days into my second town), so I probably will make some form of list or notes :) thanks for the advice! ^^
