remember in city folk and new leaf, where the “fancy” sector of your town was completely divided from the rustic part with housing? that would work so well with new horizons. i’ve seen people panicking about how they’re afraid about the next nooks cranny upgrade and how flashy it’s going to be, really ruining the vibe that they built on their island. do you think main street/the city would fit in, and would you like having it?

Maybe I'm biased because Wild World was my first animal crossing, but I actually like having the shops and buildings integrated into my main town/residential area. I want to have control over how I decorate and place the buildings, and having them part of my main area makes it feel more like a joint community. I always go for a forest/cottage/wilderness theme for my towns, so having the rustic woods and then a bustling urban center right at the top sorta takes away from that vibe.

My nook's and able's is tucked away in a little forested area, with wooden paths at the entrance, surrounded by pine trees. I'm much happier with them being there instead of in the city! But I understand the appeal of having the main street/city area. Also leaves more room for other things you might wanna do with the town and not have to worry about buildings getting in the way.

No, I love being able to move the shops around and making going to different parts of my island worth doing.

i miss it. i don’t really see main street fitting in with the whole island theme but maybe instead of it being a street, it could be an entirely different island, like harvey’s island? i’d personally like that but seeing as how the current 3 main buildings are on our island (excluding rs), i don’t see them implementing something like this, at least not anytime soon ;;

what if you could... idk still be able to customize and put furniture out and decide the layout of your main street? the appeal being more room for your island’s scenery

I much prefer having control over where the shops go and how their surroundings look.

honestly i think it would be a hassle to go over to a different island to sell my massively bred flowers. maybe it just works differently than new leaf because re-tails main priority was to sell, and nooks cranny to buy.

I miss main street so much! Mainly because I really really miss the club, the dream suite, katrina, the hair salon, and of course the BIIIIG shop.

i totally miss katrina. last year me thought it was so funny that she screamed “yee” every time she took your fortune. i always took a screenshot (or tried to)

I miss it a bit, its better to have our own main street the way we want it.

I absolutely hated main street, so I don't miss it at all. I like the shops being part of the town.

I do miss it, but I did make my own main street. They’re not all lined up right next to each other, but the main plaza, the museum, the able sisters and nooks cranny are all right by one another in a little market place.

I don't really miss that much. Like others have pointed out, you can make it yourself on the northern part of your island. You have more space overall than in NL, so the fact that the shops take up space on your island isn't that bad of a deal. Most of the shops on Main Street are no longer relevant anyway. The post office has been replaced by the airport, Shampoodle has been replaced by a mirror, Club Lol is no longer necessary, and the photo booth has been replaced by your phone. Leif will probably get rolled into Nook's in an update like in NL while Kicks could become part of Able Sisters and Brewster as part of the museum. This leaves only the Dream Suite and Katrina as shops that could return that need their own space. Maybe instead of having Dream Suite, they'll just make it so any bed allows you to tour another island and I doubt Katrina is making a return since it would be strange to have her in an update unless she has a new function.

It was cute but it fits those series better than the island theme. Since acnh is a casual sandbox game, we have more control now to making a shopping district or not.

It's more versatile to let people decide how they want pan out where to place shops and stuff.

I miss the idea of it, but like others said, I love to be able to move things.

Not really, I actually like it more when the shops are integrated with the island. I do miss however some shops that existed along with the Main Street, such as the Dream Suite for example.

I also loved it, which is why I made my own little Main Street on my island. I think the current set-up is pretty ideal as far as offering options for both sides. If you like having things separate, you can still do that, but you can also have everything together if that's your vision.
