Like offering me a common seashell for one of the furnitures in my pocket
Or offering 2k for a fossil that would sell for 5k+ at retail
I usually just trade with them anyway so it counts as a favor, but I wonder if I'm doing something wrong...
Unless they are just programmed this way? lol
I think it's an extension of the original Gamecube AC.I remember a couple of villagers taking all of my bells in that game.Since New Leaf is a kinder and gentler AC game, they only hose you for a couple of thousand bells here and there.
Angus offered me a painting for 7,000 bells. I said yes and then he was like "wait, I kind of feel bad. You can have it for free!" and I was like score!
Oh gosh, I get so tired of my villagers trying to sell me pears. "Hey, I know you want my pear! We're buddies, so you can have it for, oh...... how's 2,400 bells sound?"
ikr? some random villager would price something at 4 times the retail selling price, but when they want to buy something, they most likely offer 1/4 the price you need it for -___-
Lolly used to do this so often before she started giving me random things for free (she gave me a bunch of sleek and modern furniture for free just recently!) My sister who was playing my second character for me for awhile got so fed up she sent Lolly a letter that said, "stop selling my sister and I stuff please" HAHA
BUT, I also notice sometimes a villager will offer to buy something from me for say, 2000 bells and when I confirm that price, they'll say like, "Alright, you drive a hard bargain but here's your 2400 bells!"
Like what? I said okay to 2000 without saying it was too low and they just raised their offer 400 bells? I've had it happen more than once, too.
Mine do that too... So annoying. No Whitney I will not sell you my gold nugget for a moldy shirt. I usually tell them no.
I'm pretty sure they're just prgrammed that way. Villagers will generally offer prices similar to way low or maybe a little bit higher than normal but its just like that. Friendship has nothing to do with it though. I'm pretty sure personality is what effects them selling or buying high or low. My snooties and lazies usually are the ones to offer low and my smugs and uchis offer high. It might be different for others though, idk.
I don't really buy from the animals since I don't have interest into what they're selling. And judging by their dialogue, they're asking you to do a favor by buying their items. It's their fault for making impulse buys. And they're asking us for our money?! No. Also, please do not ask people to pay you if you give them presents that were meant to be gifts. That's what the animals are doing.
As for the selling, I avoid selling items the animals charge less than the Re-Tail for, but if they're asking for the same price or higher, I sell them.
