It just seems i cant get my island the way i like. I can't find a theme i like, and i lose interest after 15 minutes of playing. i still have a passion for the game, but i cant seem to get interested in playing everyday. I used to time travel a lot, which made my island develop faster, which may be the reason why i dont play as much cause I "cheated" the game. Animal crossing was a game intended to be played all year round and still enjoy long after its release. does anyone else feel the same way?

Mod Note: We now have a dedicated place for reset discussion, so we are closing existing threads on the topic. Please take conversation there, thank you.

I haven't restarted and don't plan to. I've redesigned my island, but I have not restarted it. I don't time travel either, but just because it takes a bit of fun away from the game for me personally.
I time traveled in new leaf and every time I did that, I ended up restarting my town so it was a fresh start instead of a time traveled in town. I have no plans on time traveling on my island. I feel like if I restarted my island once, I'd probably be likely to do it a lot instead of just keeping one island and watching it grow.

Yeah I don't think you should feel like you cheated, soooo many people do it... The game needs to be fun for you. But TTing really speeds up the game, so there's not much to look forward to once you've seen it all. But there will still be lots of updates with unseen stuff! So if you're feeling burnt out just take a break. I did that recently and came back to play a whole day.

About resetting.. If you're feeling the need to restart a second time, the first didn't work for you, so you should start thinking if the problem isn't something else... Otherwise you will restart again and find yourself stuck within days. Probably really find the style you like and will go for before restarting. Look for inspo touring other islands or on YT/Pinterest, than experience the designs on your current island, and only reset if you're positive it's something you want and can't do on your current island

i honestly dont really get restarting unless you wanna change your island name to fit your theme more you have the possibility to change almost everything else so i would rather flatten my island and start again.
i also hated to do the tutorial days again on my second island so thats why i would never restart haha

Some days I feel like chucking everything on the beach and bulldozing my island to start fresh but then I think about how much fun I've had along the way and stop myself from doing it. I always like to start a little project when I'm feeling the urge to make big changes and it usually provides enough change to get excited for a while again.

Instead of restarting, I'd always recommend taking a slower course and doing re-construction instead!

Personally, I have not yet felt the urge to restart my island. There are some factors of my island that while aren't ideal (airport and Res Services not being aligned, length of the pier, positioning of some beach rocks), I've learned or am learning how to work around them. I can understand that these factors may be non-negotiable to other players, so I see why others may opt for restarting.

If you do decide to restart, then props to you for coming to your own decision, and best of luck in starting anew!

I used to do this all the time in New Leaf and I ended up regretting it every single time. I think once you give in to resetting and starting fresh it creates sort of a vicious cycle, there's always gonna be an aspect that you don't like, the RS is gonna be too far or too close, the rivers won't align well, the colour of the airport will be bad... So I say try reconstructing again since the good thing about this game is that you can always clear everything out and start from scratch with terraforming! Sometimes fixing areas you're not too happy with is all you need

I did reset recently. It was because I was no longer happy with my old island and I noticed that I haven’t picked the game up in almost a month. That won’t do. I have to do something to re ignite my interest in the game. Since I wanted a whole new aesthetic for my island, I figured a fresh start would be easier than to take everything down and re decorate. It’s gonna take too much time and bells. So I reset my town and I don’t regret it one bit. I regained my interest on the game, found this layout that I like better than my previous one and ended up getting really lucky with my villagers this time around. No regrets on my part. But note that this is also coming from someone who enjoyed the beginning parts of the game more than the latter ones so it could be a different case for you if you hated the slow start.

I have thought like that but really those thoughts would pass by.

I agree with this so much. It’s really up to you if you want to reset but be careful not to go into that reset loop hole. I suffered that in New Leaf as well and regretted it too.

Not really. I have yet to restart even though my map isn't ideal for me. But if you have restarted and made progress and restart again multiple times, I think it's important to identify why you feel like restarting each time.

For the games like stardew valley or don't starve together, I like starting over from scratch but Animal Crossing is not that type of game for me.

I restarted and I’m totally cool with it. The only reason was because I had cherries as a native fruit and wanted peaches and I wasted a lot of Nook Miles. I wasn’t too far into the game at that point, so I didn’t really lose too much. I also put the game down for like a month and when I got back to it, it felt boring lol.

I restarted in Wild World and it caused me to lose interest in that game.I haven't done it since. An Animal Crossing town is kind of like modeling clay......you can change the shape into almost anything you want, even more so with New Horizons. You don't really have to restart to get it the way you want it.

Oh you don't want to reset. I did it at least 3 times and I regret doing that. (Then again I think Time Travelling was the reason why I regret doing it.)

*Sigh*. If only I wasn't impatient to move out Cyd in my first island naturally so someone could adopt him this would have never happened, but I'm fine now.
