Does anybody miss the McDonald's characters?

Really? They're gone?

There's a McDonald's Playplace near me that still has the characters around.

They probably got rid of them because they were all getting creepy.

Ronald McDonald is a clown and 83% of people have clown phobia.
Grimace is a giant purple monster who smiles as he is coming after you with an axe
Hamburgler is a fugitive on the run. Not a good message for the kiddies
I don't know who early birdie is. I think you made this one up

not at all.
from what i remember the mcdonalds characters weren't all that big over here in australia so nothing to miss since they didn't have that big an influence.

I hate clowns too. Are they scary? No. Are they ugly? Yes. I still liked Ronald McDonald.

If you want to know, McDonald's isn't even that good anymore. The only things I get there are a drink, the sausage McMuffin with egg, the hash browns, and that's just about it. The burgers are stale, the fries are gross, and the ice creams lost quality. After one year of not eating McDonald's, I could care less about them.

McDonalds was never "good", that's the nostalgia talking. Plus, each McDonalds location is different, I used to go to one that was AWFUL, all the food was always cold and it tasted like it was made last week, but then different management took over and essentially fired most of the employees and hired in new ones, and now the food is always hot and about as fresh as junk food can be. So it really just depends on who's making the food, like anywhere.

I remember that the McDonald's in my town centre had a mural up of all the characters join the upper floor until around 2012... :P I never really knew who each of them was, even in the early 2000's no one in that McDonald's told anyone who they were...

Yep! They're retired 10 years ago. Not only I don't even see Ronald McDonald, but other fast foods are dumping their mascots. Remember the Taco Bell dog? He's been out for 14 years (the dog he's based after is really female, so the voice on the commercials were incorrect). Burger King is getting rid of the burger king. And KFC is planning on taking the colonel down from their advertisements. So I'm thinking in 10 years or sooner, fast food mascots will be history.

You must be lucky that the playplace still has the McDonald's characters. McDonald's may have got rid of their characters, but they're not completely gone. Those who remember them very well still has them in memory.

Even if we have internet, most of the stuff we know today will be forgotten in 100 years or later, even the ones that were overhyped during their times will fade into obscurity. Only the classics will live on and outlive us. If you remember Disney's Dinosaur, you should realize that it was almost completely forgotten in five or more years since the release. The McDonald's characters will probably be the same in the future.

I'm actually surprised that a lot of you don't like them. I actually liked them too, but I'm not strong about them. The one thing that brought them back to memory was when I saw that one Monsters vs Aliens happymeal commercial when that fish monster asked the Grimmace if he was a monster or alien. I haven't forgotten about them since then.

I remember them a little when I used to get happy meals as a kid. Not sure if they're around much anymore. My family and I rarely eat at McDonald's since they got rid of the chicken selects. And there are plenty of other burger places to eat at where I live.
