It's the only reason I've kept my copy of New Leaf. I loved that micro game...and considering how many variations you could have based on species abilities, for me the replay value was huge. It was also nice being able to include the special characters too.

I was really hoping NH would have an updated/variation of the game. I'm still hoping actually...

Yeah, I do, as annoying as it was when whimsy kicked in with my team of Kangaroos. :)

I kinda miss the puzzle game more tbh. 😅 I never had so much luck at winning when it comes to Desert Island, it was not that bad, but overall the puzzle game was more fun for me.

I hated that puzzle game!

I couldn't get the controls to work, plus Tetris style games are a bit boring.

I never completed a single level of the puzzle game. LOL

I mean, I'm also not such a huge fan of puzzle games (playing some sometimes when I'm really bored) and at first I hated it too, mainly because I also had trouble with the controls or how it even works (I started to play it just because I really wanted to get those items tbh). After a while, I got used to it and it became more fun. I can totally understand it that you hated it however, because even if I had fun after getting used to it, I still somehow hated it, because I had the feeling the NPCs are pretty unfair with their game play at some point. 😅

I do but I don't want the enemies to be the giant centipedes anymore. They were cartoony enough but those things are literal nightmares for me. How to torment Pyoopi 101.

I went to a dream address and they littered the ground with the toy ones. I just wanted to explode.

I do miss playing it. I also really miss the puzzle game. It was so exciting and so satisfying when you won against an opponent. I loved that it had you "compete to be mayor" against the villagers. Man, now I have to go charge my 3DS to play more New Leaf. 😁

I miss both the desert island and puzzle league. I spent so many hours on both and I would realize that I should actually do something with my town. It was almost like me and homework lol.

They really need to bring them back or something like it.

I remember playing it. I would always have Kitt on my team because she would always go the farthest if she's in the mood to do so. Planning out where to go and making mental notes is surprisingly fun, especially if you have the upper hand against giant tarantulas and centipedes. I even managed to beat all levels on all difficulties while purposely giving myself handicaps on some of them. Some may think that the wheel spins are rng but it's all about the timing. I forgot what trick it is but it has something to do with the positioning of the space you don't want. If implemented again in New Horizons, it would be cool to have a level of our island, but dangerous and wild.

Not really. It was better than the puzzle game(which was incredibly annoying unless u got the exact right amiibos and the AI was Mario Kart DS cheat level) though but, yeah no I don't care for it.

I really enjoyed it. I mean, it was a cash grab for Amiibos and the Amiibo card reader, but Nintendo got my cash, and I got a ton of enjoyment. Also love that its acronym was D.I.E.

I really liked it! It was a fun strategy game and I liked the various interactions and figuring out the best group to use (I usually went with horse, penguin, squirrel in that order). I'd love to have it back!

I think after you click to stop the wheel, it does exactly one (?) full rotation before stopping, so I always timed it so I'd press the button when the arrow was over the area I wanted.

No, I only played it once, that was enough for me. It was a little too Amiibo Festival for my liking. I liked the Wii U console though and appreciated they gave it functionality.

I can't honestly say I miss it too much, because I only played it a few times. I have a number of amiibo, but nowhere near all of them, so the available stock of villagers to use in the mini-game would be limited unless I spent play coins to use my towns' residents (if I remember correctly anyway, it has admittedly been months or maybe a year or more since I last played Desert Island Escape). Desert Island Escape is fun, but I would more often than not opt to play Puzzle League instead.

Regardless, if I felt the desire to play Desert Island Escape, I'd just load New Leaf back up. Haven't picked it back up since New Horizons released, but I intend to keep playing New Leaf into the future because there are different game mechanics and items available and different residents in my towns.
How did you even get the Desert Island minigame? I never played it before.
You play it on the Wii U console that you can acquire in-game. It's one of the possible rewards from the fortune cookies at the Nooklings' store, though you could probably find someone selling one in the Re-Tail subform of the New Leaf section of the forums here.

Definitely... but, then again, I was thinking about it the other day- ACNH is almost an expanded version of that minigame. Like, you land on a deserted island and build yourself tools to survive 🤔

I'd definitely love for them to bring that back, and the other mini-games (I'm including the "tours" from Tortimer Island as mini-games). It's definitely not hurting my enjoyment of the game not to have them, but it'd make it even more enjoyable to be able to enjoy them again!

No
I only played it the first week it came out. If they add it, that’s ok, but I probably wouldn’t play it.
I do miss the island mini games with multi player though.

Yes! I loved that game. I was a bit miffed that the villagers in my town didn't have the best abilities, but it was a fun game. It was easy enough to learn the mechanics and easy enough to play without too much planning, but strategizing was important to escape the island. I used to spend a lot of time trying to beat all the levels.

I understand it was added though the Welcome Amiibo update, but I would have loved to have seen more mini-games (Tortimer's Island, Desert Island Escape, Puzzle League) to be included, even if they came back in the same form they were before.

No, not really. It was OK of a game, but I sucked playing it big time, so I didn't play it much. Even the other game was hard for me to play. I guess I'm not too good with puzzles and other hard games such as these ones.
