Caught Marina sitting on the life-ring on the beach. Very cute. Managed to get a quick snap of her but as soon as I got out my Nook Phone to capture it properly she got up. This happens constantly with my villagers. Some of them even get up when I sit down on a bench next to them (not so much lately). Does this happen to anyone else?

They tend to move away whenever I stop to watch what they’re doing. Especially when they’re singing. That’s why I sometimes creep up out of their line of vision in order to snap a picture, or just turn away from them. It’s actually pretty funny how “self-aware” they are.

Villagers tend to not stick around in one spot for very long, I've noticed. I saw Fuchsia singing, stop mid-song, sit by a tree, get back up and start singing again, all in about 2 minutes.

I like my villagers always looking for something to do, but I think there probably should be a mechanic that makes them stick to what they're doing when you pull out the camera.

I had often the case that I wanted to make a photo of my villagers doing something funny and once I get the phone out, they just stop doing what they did a moment ago and walk away. And since this happened quite often, I make a quick screenshot first and then try to make a better photo afterwards via the NookPhone.

They do seem much more active in NH than they were in NL. They keep wandering off...

They definitely seem to have that tendency.
Like the minute they notice you're watching, they're like, okay bye.
Kinda repeatable really but so many missed photo opportunities.... lol

My photo album is full of my villagers mid getting up because every time I stop to take a photo, they instantly get up. IT'S SO ANNOYING. JUST PLEASE LET ME CAPTURE THIS CUTE MOMENT OF YOU.

I feel like it's always just the unfortunate timing of their activities, since they often don't sit still for long, that by the time you find them there's not enough time to whip out the camera, aim and shoot before they decide they're moving on to something else.

But then you'll have those other times when they sit in one area for like an hour and you can just sit with them and chill for a while...

i've lost count how many times i've tried to record raymond whenever he's doing something cute.
he's the most self aware villager on my island and i wish he wasn't LOL. caught him singing to kk soul one time in the rain and as soon as i finished positioning my camera, he stopped singing and walked away. F

Same, especially Roscoe. I tried five minutes trying to get a picture of him singing behind trees at night because it was kinda scary x'D but Everytime I take out phone and aim he leaves. And when I leave, he goes back into the same spot and starts singing again... >(

Yes! It makes it so hard to get decent pictures. My dog is the same way irl. 😩

As long as I remain out of their line of sight, I can takr their pictures without noticing. I feel like a paparazzi.

But sometimes, they don't care even when I'm sitting or standing next to them. I dunno if this is proven, but maybe friendship affects this. I notice that new villagers tend to move away immediately, while those who have high friendship tend to stay put.

i feel like it's less them running away and more me walking into a cute moment a little too late and taking forever to position a picture juuuust right that by the time i get it perfect they're just over it lol

I was wondering this too. Pietro and Mint seem to stay for photos and let me sit with them and I think their friendship level is higher (they give me 750 bells for foreign fruit rather than the 650 the rest do).
