I like to make my characters have backstories, I just find it interesting ^^ I'll sometimes even give villagers them!

What about you guys?

I don't have much of one for Earth, my mayor, but Maxwell has a larger backstory due to his involvement in a story I'm writing. However, it's not developed that much, which is why I added him in the first place.

In short, Maxwell's story begins from the end of what I'm writing. Distraught by the horrific turns his life took in the field of battle and losing all he considered family, he decided to restart his life in a pleasant southern village at the suggestion of a superior. As he still copes with the loss of friends and family, he develops a passion for art, and now works on numerous paintings and sculptures in an archaic shrine at the back of his house. Though the villagers don't see him often, he remains a definite focal point of them, much to the mayor's amusement.

I thought about that earlier. As of now, no, my characters don't have backstories, but I'm thinking of giving my main character a backstory.

I don't have any of my mayor yet, but I do have ones for Marcus and Maryann, my two side characters. Its a WIP so i'll experience some changes.

I have this weird, overelaborate, unnecessarily grim headcanon for the AC world. My character's backstory fits into it neatly. Basically: What if people and animals met a long time ago due to an interdimensional rift opening up? What if the people and the animals fought a long war 70 years ago or something? What if the human government started a program that would give "disadvantaged" (really poor) young kids and teens a home with the animals? It would be a world peace program, basically, because all these starving young kids would get a home, grow up with animals, and no longer regard them as weird or the enemy.

My character is just one of many runaways who didn't like trying to scrape by in the smoggy, overcrowded, destitute human cities.

I was definiteley thinking of giving my characters backstoriesmBut so far they don't.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! XD
My mayor Luna doesn't have much of one, but her twin brother Leo started up a school. As there's no children villagers,I have a story that he lets children from other towns visit, and he teaches them. He also owns a small clinic in the school basement, as it's the infirmary, but there's no clinic in the basement. I may change that though XD My 3rd character, Melody, was on a boat with Gulliver when she got washed ashore. I don't use her too much, but I'm using her house as Leo's main house, and he lets her stay there when she visits, because she wants to learn about medicine as well, becoming interested in it when she lost her eye due to the accident.
Mind you, this may change for all I know haha!

My mule Rillim was a level 90 Paladin from a fantasy game that decided to retire and move to this quiet town. She doesn't know anything but the high-fantasy life, so she started up her own inn with an armory and apothecary attached (because she was also a master alchemist and blacksmith)

My characters don't have any. Maybe sometime I'll come up with one though. I really like some of the stories people make with their characters.

All i have is a little on one of mine. Leo is an art forger. He sells fake art to Crazy Redd, who then sells it.

To redeem himself Leo purchases the genuine art from Crazy Redd to donate to the museum.

Luna is also an artist, but so far I have not set up a studio for her. She will not be an art forger. Just a regular artist. ;)

My other characters have even less backstory than this.

i just kinda imagine my mayor is like... a self-insert OC into animal crossing

of course, if she's anything like me, that's kinda scary

but my path mule i'm going to make into an "old lady" of sorts, who's going to have a golden exterior on her house
eventually, and be based off of the song "house of gold" by twenty one pilots

My mayor is just the "weeaboo" side of me that I don't show in real life, I guess. My others are just design mules with no back stories.

Sort of. Spelleo is based off a character I had dream about. In my dream, he was dating my best friend and we were at his house together, watching movies. After the movie, Spelleo offered to drive me home and I accepted. But we got into a terrible car accident and wound up in the hospital. When I woke up, Spelleo was in a cast and looked completely different. He had pink hair and brown eyes, and even his voice sounded different. Then he confessed his secret to me: He was cursed to die tragically and yet could never die. Whenever he died, he was reincarnated instantly as a 23-yr-old man, but always looked completely different in each life.
So when I thought up the town of Coven, I knew that Spelleo would be perfect for it.

You have a Leo and Luna as well? :D That's pretty cool ^^ I also like that you have a sort of dark asset to a character, that's really interesting!

None of my characters have stories specifically created with Animal Crossing. My mayor character in Mabure, Avril, doesn't have any story behind her beyond the fact I named her the first thing I thought of that I thought was pretty.

My other three characters (Nagako, Rosaline, and Danielle) I have are named after characters from stories I'm writing, and in fact I often learn a thing or two about those characters from playing as their AC counterparts. Granted, this isn't something unique to Animal Crossing; if I have the chance to name a PC, I always name him/her after one of my original characters.

No backstories for me. I never really thought of it. I suppose I could come up with something though, it always makes things a bit more interesting.

Some of them
Bethany (My Character) - 12%
Victoria - 0%
Soleil - 5%
Coach - 25%
Poncho - 15%
Twiggy - 8% (I used to think She was a guy 0.0 )
Benjamin - 0%
Gala - 10%
Shari - 95% (She is my fave lol!)
Savannah - 29%

I Like doing it a character at a time, Shari to me has done the most in my game to improve her personality ^_^

Awe, that's cool! You make them for villagers as well D: I find that harder, personally XD Unless it's ones like Bluebear and Kody being related, or something like that XD

Good to see I'm not the only one who names their characters after writing OCs.
