i honestly dont know why would the ACNL get an update at this timing. i mean, lets be honest here. the game is partially dead already! most people already completed their towns and theres no reason to play even if theres a new update. And can we talk about how the update is just 80% amiibo? rip to those who do not own the new 3ds.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I have been playing the game for 6 years and still feel as if there is so much to do. I have 3 towns and just fall in love with the game+ update everyday.

Since I have all my dreamies, the amiibo update does help me with all the awesome things we can order now. My kitchen has so much more food items I am so so so happy!

I personally think the update was released at the right time. It brought back interest in a game that is 4 years old. People who stopped playing the game or people who never considered buying it might come back. I think it really re-energized the community and was a good move for Nintendo. Not everyone has completed their town so there is still more for them to do. I think we forget that the online ACNL community has more serious players so we forget that there are very casual players out there.

Nah, I don't think it's too late. This update just made the game a lot better! I'm redecorating all my rooms and I actually paid off everything because of this update. Also, the minigames are awesome!

I like the update, but it has been kind of a long wait. I didn't actually buy new leaf until a couple years after it was released, and I still got burned out on it. Anyone who got the game back in 2012 is probably dusting cobwebs off the cartridge. I think it has been about 4 years between each AC game being released, so they really should have done the update a couple years ago and be close to a brand new game, but I don't see any in sight right now.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck! :)

6 years? o.o

There is absolutely no reason to get mad at Nintendo because the update is mostly about amiibo it's free afterall and the only bad thing I can see about the update is that it deleted the dream codes. But come on, I see so many threads complaining about the new update and I just don't get it
Edit: sorry if this seems like it's pointed at you in particular I just kind of had to get this off my chest because I'm tired of all the negativity

Yeah I agree. There is a decent amount of new content that you don't need Amiibos for. Obviously part of the reason for the update is to get people to buy more Amiibos especially if they aren't interested in HHD, but you don't absolutely have to have them to enjoy the update.

Maybe so and to his/her own, but my glass is half full.

Actually I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of features added in this update that do NOT have anything to do with the Amiibo. You see, the previous news on this update spoke exclusively of Amiibo and made me very cynical for the update, thinking that it would add absolutely nothing for those of us who don't want to waste money on Amiibo.

Yet... Here we got the ability to decorate our house like in HHD, a nice storage upgrade we can get, and a ton of new items that we can get WITHOUT Amiibos.

If this were EA (The Sims), they would have charged you $40 for this update, and still expected you to buy the Amiibos. =P

No way! I'm super stoked! I do wish they would have had one earlier but honestly I was still exploring the old stuff so now that the new stuff came out it's like a new game again!

Yeah I celebrated my anniversary today with Isabelle it was the cutest thing and love that they give you the tree sapling as gift as well!

Wow! That's so cool!

I stopped playing my first town a long time ago. Now I'm playing again, and having so much fun. My houses are getting small make overs. I do own an nfc reader, but have never really used it. Now I might get a bit of use from it because of the update.

It's never too late to update Animal Crossing New Leaf!!! I'm loving the update and love that it's bringing old players back to the game and attracting new players. :D

I really like the update and think it's done the game a lot of good. This place is so much busier than it's been in such a long time.
And I love the amiibo aspect. So many old players are coming back to the game
