Does anybody think there is demand for a Cataloging Town? I know this isn't an original idea, but I have almost all of the re-orderable furniture series, sets and themes (including same of the more desired ones like the Campus furniture) and was thinking of laying them all out in my spare town for people to come and catalog.

Is this type of service still desired by people on the forum? How many bells would you charge per visit? It would cost me a decent bit of capital in start-up costs, and I want to make sure I can get at least a bit of return on the investment.

Let me know your thoughts or if you would be interested! Thanks so much!

I think someone (not gonna name any names in case they don't want to be) wanted to host a cataloging fest ages ago. Free of course. Never happened though.

If you really plan to order EVERYTHING and have it lay all over your town, I would advice you do it if that is a cycling town or a town you don't care. Is nice and thoughtful of you but there's always a risk. Unless you let only one person enter per time and being on guard all the while to prevent thieving, or else is hard if someone being dishonest and steal something.

I would much prefer you open a shop and list down the available set and only order and sell if anyone interested xD much better =)

Yeah this sums it up really ~ you'd have to keep a hawks eye on everyone and so it'd take forever to get through everyone. Personally, I wouldn't pay to catalog anyway >.>

Is nice to be kind and let people catalog but I have seen alot of kind case but being turn down by other for trusting too much ><

I wouldn't pay for catalog either xD I would rather pay and buy the items =x even if people willing to pay for catalog, it will be really really low price so totally not a good idea =x

On Reddit, there are several "shared" towns. That is, one person has a second copy of ACNL and second DS, adds anyone who asks to their friend's list, and constantly has the "shared" town's gate open. People themselves donate sets and items to this town for others to catalog. Some people steal, but a majority of the time, everything stays in place and everyone can enjoy the town freely.

Like some other people said, it's risky. People can pick up things and never lay them back down, unless you're doing a small cataloging event like the Campus set or something where you can keep tabs on it since it's not that many pieces.
I suggest you to open a shop :)

That's such a nice idea :c

That totally makes sense and I appreciate the input everybody! I think I will end up opening a shop at some point down the road. I'm pretty busy with things now, but that is a good idea and a better alternative. If there is anything you're looking for, feel free to PM me and I can check/help you out!

There's a town like this on Tumblr too, though it doesn't open much anymore because it's tough for one busy person to keep running/it's currently being used for hybrid flower experiments.. Stuff did get stolen quite a bit (especially since there was a section for dlc), but many people who visited the town were trying to replenish things. And organize. Overall, it did work pretty well. I liked that there were sections for all different types of things as you can see from the link, rather than just furniture cataloging. I think a town like this is really convenient, but it takes a lot of effort to upkeep. It would be helpful to have a small team working on it.

I think it's a nice idea. Idk if people would pay to catalog though. Maybe some. I bet some people might tip though if it were free to come. Or you could ask for item donations... like things that people don't want anymore to donate to the town for everyone to catalog. Something like that.

The biggest thing to worry about obv is untrustworthy people stealing. Ofc on here, you could say that people need to have at least 10 positive wifi ratings or something like that? The unorderable stuff is the big thing. It would stink if people stole other stuff, but at the very least it could be ordered again.

If there was a lot of stuff, it could take people a looong time to catalog everything, so there's that to keep in mind as well. It would be hard to keep an eye on everyone. You could consider doing a different cataloging theme each week. Like ROCOCO SET this week. CAMPUS SET next week. or w/e. That way it's just a small group of items at a time.
