I'm not going to feel worried or think about the possibility, probably until a year or two when Switch mature as a console/handheld. They're not just going to drop support for New Leaf or 3DS in general without a safety net XD
Some people aren't going to get the Switch. And chances are, a lot of people will check into ACNL at least to maintain their town, since so many people have dedicated YEARS to said towns. Even if activity around the game slows down, I don't think it's going to die completely.
Nintendo has already confirmed that the 3DS and Switch will co-exist. I doubt that a new game on any platform will kill NL off. It would be nonsensical of them to cut off support in any case because...
Why release a major update/patches/content addition of a game and cease support of it within a matter of a few months? Why sell more Amiibo cards? If support were to cease without warning, people would rage, cancel pre-orders for Switch, and leave in droves. If Nintendo has any sense, then they'll keep 3DS support going for a few more years as the Switch establishes itself. The Switch doesn't even have a strong library to get it out of the gate, so they'll need to leverage that by keeping 3DS alive and kicking. Until confirmation comes about a new main AC game, you can count on this one still being supported.
I think the Welcome Amiibo update definitely gave it a fresh start. Plus Animal Crossing is something that I'll stop playing for a while and then suddenly have a craving for it and go on an ACNL bender haha
I really doubt it, since the Welcome amiibo update is a thing and it has only recently been released.
Either way, I'll get the Switch AC as soon as it comes out.
Not really. The update is still fairly new (even if it is over 3 months old). I'm sure a Switch version wouldn't be released until later in the Switch's lifespan. The mobile game won't be big enough to replace New Leaf.
They never put out new AC games near a console's launch. I don't think you need to worry about it. AC is going to be the main AC game for at least the next few years, I would bet.
You mean ACNL. It would be funny if the GCN game was the main AC game for the next few years but I wouldn't mind that since I really like the GCN version. lol
I think the update extended it's due date, I just don't know for how long. I really hope ACNL stays alive for a long time from now. Even if an Animal Crossing game comes out for the Switch I feel like that would be a few years into the release date of the Switch itself.
With the new update i really hope they add the game more time and i think it will be like this until the 3DS just pass.
-An new AC for Smartphones has been announced and it come out this year.
-Really hope they have some kind of compatibility with NL.
-I hope that NL keep updating with more Amiibo compatibility, like other Amiibo figures like Mario Series or more characters in SSB series.
I think that what i'm saying is... No, i don't think ACNL will over any time soon, even with the new mobile game or a Switch game ahead.
Edit: I really think that if Nintendo want to over with NL they just don't update the game by make a compatibility with HHD and the Amiibo Festival Amiibos.
I don't think that a Switch version is coming. Nothing confirm by Nintendo and it's just speculation.
The app could be a companion app for New Leaf, or a full game (which probably wouldn't work). In a few years, it could die like City Folk or happily co-exist with Nintendo Switch. Nintendo haven't shown signs of retiring the 3DS for a while, as the new update suggests. It will eventually, but not yet.
