Do you think some of the old villagers will make a comeback?

Not necessarily talking about the Sanrio villagers (which I do think might be coming back due to the inclusion of the posters) or the crossover Zelda/Splatoon/Monster Hunter ones but some of the villagers from the old series.
I'm not too familiar with them tbh because NL was my first AC game but I was browsing through lists and some caught my attention - particularly Sunny the normal frog.
She seems really cute.
Do you think any of them will be making a comeback down the line or will Nintendo, perhaps, give us new villagers altogether?

that'd be wonderful to be honest! i can see some villagers making a comeback later down in the road once enough features have been implemented. even if they come in dlc or whatever, i'd buy them.

i'd really, really love to have meow and bow come back ... robotic villagers are super cute to me!

I really need Sven to return as a cranky. Do we have cranky goats? I miss him so much from my ACGC town. I don't understand why he's gone. He could totally be Sherb's grandpa, or great uncle or something. Please make it happen, Nintendo!

I think somewhere along the line we will get an update with new villagers of a new species. I know a lot of people would like bats or foxes and I think I'd be happy with anything new.

Some of them will be gone forever, mostly because of controversy or other reasons, like Kit the Squirrel *cough* Conker *cough*, Nosegay (I know it’s meant to be a Bouquet of Flowers, but still), Carmen the Mouse (Same Name as the Rabbit) and idk what else. I would be delighted if all of them would came back and being made into a Series 6 or whatever, but the chances are super slim. Sadly.

I'm leaning toward it being unlikely that they will have any/many of the old villagers who didn't return in the Welcome Amiibo update for New Leaf return in New Horizons. I would love some of them to return though, like Aziz, Pierre, Pigleg, Quetzal (though I could definitely see him being interpreted as problematic) and Woolio. It could happen, but I don't know, there might be reasons the developers decided not to include the ones that didn't return yet which we aren't privy to.

Not only would I enjoy Nosegay as a joke villager but also she pairs well with Olaf. (I looked on the wiki, Nosegay is actually a girl)

Why does anyone want Hank back? Hank and Hector Are both Jock Chickens and people don’t even like most of the chickens that much, same for the Jock Type. Just wondering if it’s nostalgia. I know that GameCube has a lot of Chickens which are missing, but I’m just wondering. Because I heard a lot of people which want Hank back.

I honestly don't think Nintendo will bring them back. New Leaf would have been their chance to do that. I would love Pierre, Woolio, and Sunny to make a comeback but that's just wishful thinking. I wonder why they were excluded from further games to begin with.

Something to keep in mind is that some of the more popular cut villagers like Meow and Bow were sponsorship villagers, so they're less likely to come back. I don't think the product they're based on is still around either. :[

I would absolutely die for the return of Petunia the snooty rhino. I love the snooty personality but I didn’t even have one in NL because I don’t like ANY of the current designs enough to want to keep one around. Planning to give Judy a try on my island if I can find her but would gladly replace her with Petunia if she came back, she would just be so perfect since I have/intend to get the other rhinos. I know Rhonda exists but she’s the only one I don’t quite like.. why the snooty always gotta be like that.

Anyway some others that I would love to see return are Belle (only cute cow villager imo), Poko, Pironkon, Pierre, Woolio, and that squirrel that looks like Conker (Kit i think?)
