I didn't until recently, but I started to think about it more and more until I stopped eating meat like six months ago. Well, I still eat fish sometimes when I get meat cravings but I've almost stopped with that too.
I've realized that it is a "out of sight, out of mind" kind of thing: just because I never saw the animals I was eating I thought it was fine. But it's not fine. Not for me anyways. I don't have to eat meat, so I feel wrong every time I do.
It depends. If someone puts a dead octopus on a plate in front of me, expecting me to eat it, then I'll probably think about it's eyes staring at me in the ocean... Cringey stuff. Other than that, I'll just think about how tasty or disgusting it is.
I'm a vegetarian so... I'd be aware of the fact if I were to eat meat? I guess? I've been trying to become more mindful of what I eat and where that food comes from in general.
