Do you think octopus villagers are becoming more common?

Idk if it's just me, but I remember octo villagers were super rare and hard to get. For some reason since NH came out I feel like they still rare but much more common to get. Marina is moving onto my island tomorrow, I recruited her from a nook mile island.

Is it just me?

I'm not sure.
I'd say they're more rare in general because there are only 3. I currently have Octavian that I encountered on an Island as well though so, maybe, they spawn more?

I'm waiting to find my Zucker though - he's my favorite villager and I can't imagine Island life without him. So far no luck.
I'm just waiting for someone to move out so I can go hunting for him.

I'm not sure, but I have been to probably 25 Nook Miles Islands so far and I've seen Marina, Zucker twice, and Octavian (who I invited to move in)

IKR!!! i wanna ask this too. i thought i hit the jackpot when marina was literally my first island villager. but like 80% of people have her here, it's insane.

I island hopped 20 times today and found Octavian 5 times (it has to be a sign) and Marina (who was in my town about a week ago).
....and I currently have Zucker. They won't leave me alone lmao-

Zucker was the very first villager I saw on my very first island tour, so maybe they have a better spawn rate to make up for the fact there's only 3 of them?

I got Marina 2x on one island hopping tour when I started playing
Pretty sure I only went to like 10 islands at that time

I wonder if maybe they turned up the likelihood of octopi since we're on an island now, just as a fun nod to the slightly more "aquatic" setting? Or maybe the RNG rolls a species first, and then picks one member of that species, making it equally likely to encounter an octopus or a cat even though there's like ten times more cats?

the latter seems like what they probably did. but in this case, technically personality first (esp for the first 3 island villagers), then species and then one member.

Yea I noticed that they seem to be more common nowadays, maybe they made the octopi spawn more frequent?

I get the feeling personality might have been special for those three—in general, it wouldn't really make sense to roll personality and then species and then pick a member, because what if it rolls smug and then wolf, or snooty and then octopus?

I hope I can get this lucky. I need my Zucker bad! I think my next Island trip I'm not settling for anyone else but him.

I got all three octopi by with the island. I wonder if they are rated higher in the RNG because they are a small species? That sounds kind of doubtful though.

Well after the first 3 forced personalities (peppy, normal and lazy) and your forced camper, villagers on your Island tours are completely random personalities. I've encountered multiple Uchis, Jocks, Crankies, Lazies, and Normals despite having all these in my town already.
So it doesn't seem like the game necessarily tries to push for any personality type after the initially acquired ones. I'm still to find a snooty that I like and my Zucker, of course.

it seems like everyone and their dog has either zucker or marina now, i remember being so pumped when octavian moved in in new leaf, seems now like its not as special

It does seem like a lot of people around here have at least one living in their town, or have encountered them multiple times on island tours. I've not been in more than 20 tours and I've found Marina and Zucker, the former I invited to try and make a profit, but I don't know if I will because it seems EVERYBODY has her lol

Zucker was my first mystery island recruit, I got Marina from amiibo, and Octavian moved into an empty plot on his own. Originally only planned to have Marina, but it's fine with me! They do seem to be common, I guess fits with the island/sea themes.

My bf found Zucker on an island right away but I have yet to find one of them. It might have something to do with us having more options for recruiting villagers now with the mystery islands? Before it was random move ins and the campsite which usually doesn't have any visitors. Now we can semi scout for villagers with multiple trips to the islands.
