I know the lock downs helped, but this game has sold insanely well, and is still going. Do you think they expected this? And if not, do you think this will help potentially push even more post game content than what was previously considered?
They perfectly created hype by what they showed off, even without the lockdown many people would have taken a look at the game just to know why everyone's talking about it. And they obviously took their time with it, so they know they created something really good. Honestly I think the lockdown harmed the game because there's not enough content early on so people get bored when they're stuck at home for weeks.
i think they expected it seeing as animal crossing is a pretty popular ip and they advertised it really well, but im sure the quarantine is helping sales for sure lol
I'd imagine that the roadmap for the next year's updates was pretty much set in stone from launch. It's possible that they'd add even more after that, but with what we've seen from Nintendo it seems unlikely. Even Mario Kart, the console's most successful game (afaik), hasn't gotten a single piece of DLC beyond the original set on the Wii U. It would be nice, though!
I imagine that they knew it would do will but with the quarantine its probably doing even BETTER than they thought, hopefully this means a roadmap of updates in the future!
