Do you think hacking will take over ACNL soon?

I really don't want it to
I know someone has previously hacked their town somehow and put PWP's everywhere like in the water

But when I think about it in terms of trading etc. I hope it doesn't plague the bell tree :o

Well I guess powersaves/duping, whilst I believe to not be allowed on here, are forms of hacking that spread across the fandom (and were previously on here), so I wouldn't be surprised if hacking of that sort happens too, eventually :/

It won't. I'm sure the mods and admins can handle it well. I don't go on other parts of the fandom but I think the presence of hacking is probably much more stronger there than here.

Im pretty sure it won't I mean yeah there is duping and putting PWP in water but they arent really tht bad u can work around them
Im 100% sure tht it wont

Well. I think the PWP in water and everything was just a thing Japan could do before there was an update for the game. So O don't think that will ever happen again in New Leaf. And Powersaves can't place/move/unlock PWPs so your good there. :p

That water hack first showed up years ago in one dream town. I thought in 2012 when the game was only out in Japan. I never heard of anyone imitating it since then.

It sadly already has taken over ACNL. I don't think it'll take over this forum, but it definitely already has taken over the game. There was a huge spike in items and bells about 5 or so months ago. I also know someone who admitted she power saves, so it's not as uncommon as people think it is. I've been her ACNL buddy for a while and never had a clue she power saved.

All things considered, I think the "hacking" scene may take over on Animal Crossing: New Leaf sooner if Nintendo takes too long to drop a firmware update or software update to fix these loopholes. It's not like in Animal Crossing: Wild World and City Folk, where the retail games never get patched via online.

Well, you can't really tell who gets their bells from where when you make a trade. Maybe it's hacked or earned, you never know.

Just to let you know, putting PWP projects anywhere you want, its not a hack. It's a poor glitch in the Japanese version. It's pretty funny.

Nintendo doesn't care

deal with it

Hacking has gotten to the point where you just can't tell what is what anymore. It's gotten to the point where, unless a person describes how they got it, we don't really care where it came from anymore. And the water hacks and PWP movement has been fixed before it even came to North America, so no worries.

Good thing this site doesn't allow hacking or powersaving. But sites like GameFAQs aren't the best to add FCs in order to avoid hacking.

No, I think it will be fine. There will always be huge divides with an entire pro-cheat camp and a no-cheat camp. And others, like me, who don't really worry too much about it or know much about it. So overall, I think it will be fine, especially here at TBT. :)

It might of taken over elsewhere on the internet, but I think we'll be fine here.
On sites like game FAQs though, it's already pretty bad. It's best to avoid trades with people on sites that allow hacking unless you know them, because you can't really be sure where or how they got their items. :L

In truth we likely don't know how many people here get their items. There may be hackers here or people who got items from someone who did. There is no real way once objects have changed hands a few time to know the progeny of them.

I wouldn't worry too much, tho. I think that as long as the particular site states the rule there won't be a large number of people who will bother to try to hack when they can just go elsewhere with no problem.
