Smash Bros Do you tech when being smacked into a stage?

Do you have the patience or good timing to tech (AKA, pressing your shield button) to avoid death when being smacked into a wall causing a stage spike or pushing you away from the stage if it's a complete wall, potentially ending your stock because you can't recover?

I'm in the middle with this, if I directly see it coming then I'll most likely be able to tech it, however if it's a surprise, I'll most likely die from it because my reaction levels are so goddamn low.

I honestly didn't know this existed until now. Saving yourself from one of those under stage wall slams seems extremely difficult if you're not expecting it.

I try but I get it, say, 10% of the times I try.

Teching is easy once you get the hang of it, it can save your ass sometimes

I feel like I am able to avoid it most times.... mostly because Game and Watch's and Duck Hunt's recovery moves can be hard to track

I feel like I am able to avoid it most times.... mostly because Game and Watch's and Duck Hunt's recovery moves can be hard to track

Duck Hunk has the most exploitable recovery in the game lol if he's offstage against someone who can perform at least average offstage, you're dead. Like when a character such as Bowser Jr (who has the 2nd most exploitable recovery imo) can beat you offstage, that's when you know your character has a problem. Actually Cloud could do better than Duck Hunt offstage and he can barely do a single attack without SDing if he doesn't have limit break.

Oh I meant like I can activate it early and fall above the stage since it travels nice and far (mix it up with falling faster, back and forth) or use my bomb cans to at least keep them at bay from jumping on me right away.... not like clouds, marths, little macs, and others who has like no lateral movement and sets you up to fall into attacks while going for the corner... or you try to reach real quick for the edge and they are already all over me. Or because duck hunt's has a nice reach I can try to hit them back first and still reach back to the corner before its too late... I can see how people who don't use him that much could fall prey to this a lot, but I try to mix it up so at least they have to keep guessing

but I usually try to use the cans lol, because its the best part of duck hunt anyway

This is me tbh, some people on FG get these perfect tech's and I'm like "pls just die ;_;"

Even though my mind went full potato yesterday and didn't tech being slammed with a rival Ness' PK Thunder, I saw it coming but I just didn't tech whatsoever

We both taunted it off because we both messed up :^(

I know it exists, but I usually don't expect it or I don't hit the wall to even attempt to do it so I usually don't try because of those reasons.

I can do it easily but i honestly don't care too much about it. I'm a casual player after all lol.

Plus i like the smacking animations
