I don't go out of my way to do it.. but sometimes ill be walking and be like. maybe i should hit those rocks. i dont go through the trouble of digging the holes to stop the kickback anymore, i can usually get ~8 out if im careful. What i should really be doing instead is hitting trees to get regular wood!
I only really hit the two rocks I have in spots that allow me to get all 8 without digging holes or putting fences. Even then... Frankly, the few times I really need rocks, I'd rather just buy 2 NMT and get what I need out of those islands.
Yeah, at least until I find the money rock. I used to hit every single one but the gold nugget spawn rate is so low that I don't even bother anymore lol.
I still hit them all...whether it's my own island or a Nook mystery island.
You can never have too many resources. Case in point: My brother randomly told me his hot item was the frying pan today. And, I had a TON of iron saved up. So...I made hundreds of frying pans and sold them to make hundreds of thousands of bells. And then I used all of that profit to buy way too many turnips. Lol.
Even if you don't necessarily need those resources for "normal" crafting...it definitely comes in handy when you have an opportunity like I did today. So, yeah...I save everything. Whether it's a single stone that I fish out of a river, or 5 iron that falls out of a balloon...it all gets stored away. And I always hit my rocks to the full extent possible...whether I've already harvested the money rock or not. ⛏
I hit rocks and shake trees everyday and I farm wood every other day.. I don't need it so I guess at this point I am hoarding it in storage.. Figure I can always give stacks away to someone or sell to Nooks if my storage starts to fill up...
