Do you prefer your villager houses lined up or spread?

Mine are kind of in a circle around my town, but I guess you could say they're spread. Some are closer than others, mostly around the central "island" of my town due to the way the river divides the land. I don't like them spread too far apart though, I like each villager to have a neighbour of sorts. It feels less lonely that way.

Hmm it depends on what kind of layout I have but I'm not too keen in perfectly lining them up in a straight line. I'd be happy as long as they're located at the ideal place or specific area that I want.

I prefer to have them all on the bottom map as long as they don't over run any of my flowers and things, so I guess I don't mind If they're spread out or lined up. I currently have all of them living on the bottom map other than one villager that moved next door to me, but Amelia is the one there so It's all good!

my town is a mix between forest and modern, i like defined paths!
my map is plotted in a way that works for whats going on in my town, but i made little patches i guess.
the one of 5 on the bottom mid-leftish area is a cluster of mixed villagers.
the line of 3 to the right of it are all cranky pigs.
and the two up town side by side are my two lazy dogs.
and then my 3 villager houses are also in a line.

i feel like it all depends on the type of town you want.
if it's more foresty and fairy like, i'd space them out.. but i've noticed more modern like towns have clusters.

You have 5 ponds in your map? I thought 2 was annoying enough since my ponds has no fish in it ever.

Prop to you for sticking to your town. Also your town feel lonely because all the houses are cluster together for me anyway. What matter is if you enjoy it. Too bad you can't have paper boat or remote control boat in the pond to make it feel less wasted.

did you visit my town? D:
it's not lonely is it? look at my crappy DA and tell me it isn't lonely :' (

also omh yeah i have too many badges to delete this town so i just stuck with it, as inconvenient as it ended up being. oh well.
and paper boats or like little pond chairs would be really cute to add to them if you ask me.

Just by judging from your map. Most of your villagers are down south while the upper North-Western part of your map doesn't have much going on. It suck that there is no town ordinance for villager house placement.

it's got lots going on :) trust me. haha. it's not just empty up there.

Although I'm not always a fan of their house placement choices (Goose), I'd rather have them pick where they live. It just makes more sense to me. And I don't have the patience to plot reset houses into a straight line ?\_(ツ)_/? So spread out it is!

Well having that campsite there help. I plan on doing the same thing with my town. Putting my campsite where there is not much activity.

I used to think lines were the best way, but I had a town like that and I never saw my villagers around because they always lingered in one area. My towns were they're spread out feel more alive.

This is the exact reason! If we could have like 100 villagers then line is completely fine but we only get to manage 10 villagers.

Spread, because I suck at landscaping in areas without any houses in the area and the villagers would only walk in one area if they're all on one side.

I kinda have that problem in my main town

I prefer them spread out and I never attempted to have them lined up in my games because I hate plot resetting. My main town is a forest town so everyone is spread out around the map. but for my next town I'm going to go for a more organised/modern look since they no longer plot on patterns. I don't like them all in a "line" but I think a cluster of houses in one area is quite cute, like a tiny neighbourhood (eg. all on the south side, all beside a cliff, etc.)

I absolutely love having my villagers lined up, but at the same time, I feel like it's more convenient to spread them out.

Same with me. My town is a small quiet forest town.
