Do you prefer to keep your house fully expanded, or small?

I'm doing the upstairs, the main room, the basement, and the room in the back all fully expanded but I'm not going to do the left room or the right because I like the natural light of the windows that you lose when you make those rooms.

I prefer having my mayor's house fully expanded, since my closet is full of things I want to use in my house, but I can't yet and it means more space to furniture and clothes that are taking up my living space. I don't feel like it's quite a home, if I don't have more than one room. It feels more like a showcase that way, and I want my home to feel homely. Besides, i'm going for a castle theme with my mayor's house so I'm going to need a lot of rooms when creating the house and i'm going to need to expand it in order to get the castle exterior.
