I'm fine either way, but I keep mine short due to playing my ukulele so often.
I'm pretty new to the ukulele, so I always end up bending or chipping my nails if they're long. :')
I like keeping them medium, not too long, nor too short. It helps with opening food things or water bottle packages since I'm pretty much home alone all week.
I like having longer nails. Cutting my nails short reminds me of the feeling you get when someone scratches a blackboard, so I don't cut them unless I have to.
Usually cut them short just when they start to break, but I kinda like long nails. Though my friends used to be scared because I'd have like claws, when i forgot to cut them.. ahehe Short nails seem kinda more...clean to me. I don't know why.
I usually keep my nails short to make it easier to play the guitar or the uke. Even without that factor, if my nails are a couple millimetres past the tip of my finger I will get annoyed and cut them.
Depends on what I am mounting on them, I prefer smaller nails if I am just attaching two things together but thicker and longer nails for things that have a lot of weight to them, this way I insure the item will stay fixed in it's position, it's also really important to find a stud to anchor it in properly.
Oh wait, did you mean finger nails? Well I like growing mine out and pointing them into "almond" shapes but they are very thin and so it's hard to keep them all grown out, as soon as I get somewhere where they are all almost matching one of them breaks. =[ I need to start using some thickener on them to keep them stronger and thus longer. My boyfriend hates them long because I accidentally scratch him a lot. XD
