Hello everyone!
I set down a bunch of plot resetting paths for one of my new towns, and it took about 2 hours. Even though it's time consuming, it's kinda worth it if you want your villager houses to be organized.
I was curious if any of you have plot reset before, or if you are planning to. Do you think it was/is worth it?How long did it take to place down the paths for you?
Can't wait to read everyone's reply, thanks for reading!

I do, although I don't really do much resetting since I use patterns to force my villagers into the spots where I want them. Once I know I have them laid down correctly, I don't feel much need to log in with a new character each time to check them.

I would have been happy to let my villagers plot their houses randomly, but I learned the hard way that they like to cluster around your house or in other horrible spots like in front of bridges or public buildings. I lived with it for a while, but it eventually got frustrating not being able to walk out of my house without running right smack into the back of another villager's home. So I planned out where I wanted all of my villagers to live and laid out patterns to force them into those spots.

It probably took me a few hours at least to lay out the patterns the first time. I was so paranoid that I was going to miss a spot and I was counting so carefully because my town was already partially landscaped and I didn't want to chop anything down. But I've done it a few times now and I'd say I can probably lay them all down in about 30 minutes now because I'm familiar enough with my town. I like to cycle through villagers to get new ones in every once in a while, so I end up having to relay the patterns every few months or so.

I did. Spent a lot of time resetting, but having your entire town in order is just so satisfying. I never resetted for more than 2 days of freetime for a single villager though.

In my town Tinytree most of the villagers were moved in before the WA update. I did plot resetting for the most part, but I also just settled with what they chose if it got too frustrating. With Borei I planned the whole town out in advance with placing patterns all over the place so the process was a lot easier. I think there were 3 or 4 villagers who were already in great spots from the beginning so I could also work around them. I wouldn't be able to plot reset anymore, especially since the top half of my town is covered in dirt paths and clovers that it would be really difficult to do it without missing a spot.

i have never done it but im about to start a new wii town with my partner and i know he loves paths and placement so we might try it on city folk together

Yess, I want all peppy villagers and I want them in certain places. However, I'm not trying to get anyone to move out because I want public work projects suggested by all types

I don't plot reset anymore. I used to in a previous town, but it took up too much time and energy. Why waste it? Now I just go with the flow. I protect the areas I care about/have plans for with patterns, and I make paths to protect my main routes. That's about it.

I've attempted to plot reset before the update, and that didn't go well. While it was only one villager, Marshal, it took me 8 hours to get him remotely close to where I wanted him.

Now with the update, it's easier and more at ease. I can't remember how many hours it took me to place down paths covering both my towns, unfortunately. I still plot reset in my second town because I am always afraid villagers are going to trample my hybrids unexpectedly. I breed many hybrids there and I believe I need to remove paths for possible offspring. But with those paths gone, it takes me a few resets in roughly 10-30 minutes per villager.

I plot-reset anyway. Just to play it safe. This is why my later towns, after “Welcome: Amiibo,” do not maintain four humans. Towns like Beauty, Orange, and Toy Day have no more than three humans.

I plot resetted with my third, fourth, and fifth town. I did not with my first town and I just let faith decide for me for my sixth town haha.

Same, and I use this temporary 4th player for many reasons, I am happy it's possible. It's honestly terrifying that at possible moments you might lose something you've worked hard for. I can imagine my in-game players living in fear, asking for outside help, and then said-help disappears into nothing but an ugly dirt patch.

Off-topic but I do wonder what will be possible in New Horizons in terms of "plot-resetting". Hopefully, we'll be able to choose where we want our villagers' homes without an unintended method, please.

Heck yes I plot reset! (Or, at least, I try to.)

Maybe I have some mild form of ocd, but I don't like my villagers' homes to be unevenly scattered or directly under buildings like my Town Hall. I've seen other players work it to their advantage, and their town looks fantastic, but I'm not one of those. My villagers must be evenly aligned.

The only problems are:
A) Anticipating when a new villager will move in
and B) Actually getting that new villager to move into the open spots I leave for them.

I've followed every online guide to no avail.
I read a few plot reset tutorials mentioning that setting patterns down to cover up every area (minus the open spots and spaces in between for villagers to move in lined-up) won't always work, so I know, at least, that I'm not the only one who struggled with this issue. The best strategy is either buying villagers from other users in order to assure the move in and not have to guess or use amiibo cards.

Oh my, I spent hours plot resetting. So happy my town is now nearly finished and any spots I don?t want anyone to move into have patterns carefully laid out! I don?t have to worry anymore as every time someone moves out, the new villager moves into their exact same spot. In the beginning though I had to plot reset a lot! I laid out patterns all over but forgot a few spots, which made the villagers plot right onto the spots I didn?t want them to move onto.. So it took so many resets until they finally moved where I had intended them to move!

I did plot reset but I didn't really stick to it because it bored me having to play the game like that. I ended up just letting them move to open fields but made sure near my house and bridges was off limits.

Nope, I have never had to reset a villager placement. I began picking final villagers for my town when Welcome Amiibo happened, so all I really had to do was place down paths. I made sure to be really thorough and fortunately no villagers moved to where it was unintended.

Yes, when I was working on my towns.

There was one time I didn't and a villager moved into the worst place possible. Lucky for me it wasn't a villager I wasn't planning to keep.

I didn't for my first town, or the other 2 or 3 I created after it that didn't stick around. I did for my current town, Catswort.
