Do you play casually? Or are you hardcore about everything in the game?

So why is it that things like making money and TTing villagers out or resetting for campers is looked on upon as something "hardcore" to do? Just because you may not enjoy it, doesn't mean someone else won't love it. O:

Certainly, yeah, everyone plays the game differently and enjoys it. I used the word "hardcore" but it doesn't mean anything bad or undesirable. To me, "hardcore" is the opposite of "casual". Or should I have said "advanced" players instead? (But that sounds even weirder to me. There are no preset levels of achievement in AC.) It's just that, TTing for dream villagers or resetting hundreds of times for a dream map requires a lot of extra effort. That's anything but casual. I do agree wholeheartedly that we all play the game differently to enjoy it. There is no right or wrong way about it. :)

Usually very, very casual. Most days I play for about thirty minutes. Every so often I have the urge to play for a few hours, so I will. If I played for hours and hours every day I would completely lose the joy of the game, because I'd be forcing it. Likewise, I just do whatever I feel like doing that day instead of worrying about goals. I have them, but I have plenty of time to complete them. No rush!

I enjoy going to more hardcore players' towns. It's always so impressive! And I can steal good ideas. ;)

very casual. i have spent a lot of time on paths recently, but it's only because i was unhappy about it. i chopped down every single tree in my town and replanted some as a measure to make myself happier with my town. i time travel too, but only when i want someone i dislike to move or if there's nothing else to do in the day.

hmm.. a little bit of both? haha. some things i do are a bit more complicated, instead of casual. such as my resetting for villager plot locations and campers, resetting for a good map, and going all out to get what my villagers ask me to get for them. if you call that hardcore, then i'm hardcore af. |D but uh.. yeah. the rest of the time i'm casual. i like to do things at my own pace. noooo rush.~

I'm really lazy so I prefer to be casual though I get pretty annoyed if my town doesn't turn out the way I want it to since I'm a perfectionist but I don't really care about HHA scores or collecting every rare item there is in the game, it's just way too hardcore for me and I mainly play New Leaf for relaxing after a tiring or bad day.

Im so hardcore I completed my catalog, fully expanded my house, got a perfect town, a full museum and set of gold tools in the first week.

DONT TOUCH ME YOU FILTHY CASUALS.

Casual overall, but I do some "Hardcore" things I guess. Really the only hardcore things I do are trade villagers and I always sell turnips for high prices (lowest I've sold for is like 450) though I don't know if these are really considered "hardcore".

Before I got the game I was obsessively planning my perfect layout, town name, future characters and villagers.

However when I got the game, I just chilled y'know? I picked the first map on the first reset and named it what I felt was best and the villagers weren't great but I dealt with them. A couple have moved out, a few moved in. It's just chill. So I guess I play pretty relaxed, because I don't have specific plans for my town.

I don't really understand what the definition of hardcore or casual is in the context of this game.

For me, yeah. I'm kinda serious about collecting stuff. I do several trade a week on average and I try to look at the Re-Tail board here everyday to see what the latest deals are. I'm also trying to make my town and house pretty and I troll around the AC Tumblr sites (even though some of them have the design quality of some 1995 Geocities web sites... ugh... do we really need some of these hideous backgrounds on some of these Tumblrs?) for QR codes, dream addresses, and general ideas.

But I didn't do the whole reset thing (I literally used the first map Rover presented me), I never play the reset game when it comes to villagers, and I really don't care about tracking down dream villagers too much (mainly because I feel like the amount of bells people ask for is excessive and it's not worth it to me).

Just casual, all I do is water my flowers and clean up my town. Donate fossils, work on my house and do boring stuff.
The most "hardcore" thing I do is sell villagers lol.

Trading villagers is really hardcore in my opinion. I didn't care about Dream Villagers or even think of villager swapping until I started browsing this forum. Now I'm no longer oblivious and see that I have terrible fuglies from when I first started playing and I didn't do the reset trick. ;__;

The only thing I don't do is TT to get that 100% competition, TT makes AC automatically boring to me.

Im so hardcore I completed my catalog, fully expanded my house, got a perfect town, a full museum and set of gold tools in the first week.

^Now I strive to become this. C:

Kind of inbetween, while kind of leaning towards the hardcore/possibly slightly obsessive side. I don't really reset a lot for characters I want, but it's not uncommon for me to spend hours planting flowers or placing down paths(usually to decide that I don't like them or get discouraged by someone moving on top of them and tearing everything down). It all depends on the day, and what I'm using as a creative outlet. I find if I've been playing Sims or Minecraft or just doing a lot of drawing or writing, I'm not as inspired to to a lot of stuff with my town.
