I played the cello for a year in 5th grade, but all my music teachers kept pressuring me to do it after the class ended (it was only an elective) so I quit. I also played the recorder from grades 2-4. Now I'm learning the ocarina. I've learned how to read all the notes, so that's a big accomplishment for me. I don't have a teacher or anything though, I just have a thin instruction guide, and a thin book of zelda tunes. I don't know what I'm going to do after I learn all of them. I wish I could teach myself to play other songs, but my ear isn't that good, and there aren't too many ocarina song books out there.

I occasionally still play my ocarinas <3
For the ocarina, my advice is to create some of your own music. I have done that (though I cant remember where I've placed my scores) and its really fun to play something YOU created. If your up for a challenge, and if you haven't done it before, learn to play the Mario theme song* lol It took me forever to lean it!
*Or any other video game theme song

I have the Zelda sweet potato style ocarina and a soprano five-hole ocarina. I actually really enjoy my soprano more than the sweet potato style, but my Zelda one looks so much cooler. Btw, you should upload it! I would love to hear it.
