Do you plant bushes with their own kind, or mix them up?

I realized that I have a specific area of my town for each type of bush start and that I only plant them with their own type. Of course I sometimes alternate blue and pink hydrangeas, and white and pink azaleas, but that's as adventurous as I get haha.

The northernmost parts of town are for holly bushes. Luckily I put the campsite there so they fit in perfectly. There's also a section below the river where I have a meadow of red and black flowers, so hollies fit in best there, as well. I planted hydrangeas on the western half of my map, and azaleas on the eastern half. There's a small section in the middle where my mayor's house is that's kind of cut off from the rest of town, that has more autumnal colors and sweet olive bushes. There are a few sweet olive bushes by the town hall, too. And in the south, basically along the edge right above the beach, there are some hibiscus bushes.

Is anyone else like this? Or do you just plant whatever bushes you have on hand? Only one kind can bloom at once, anyway, so you never have to worry about clashing colors.

Most of my bushes are with their same breed. If I do mix, I keep the holly and hydrangeas together, same with azaleas and sweet olives.

I plan on making a garden area with yellow hibiscus and white azaleas together.

That sounds like a pretty combination. White and yellow look good together :)

I do wish that the white azaleas in the game were actually, you know, white and not pink with a white border. Before I knew what they looked like I planted some around Fang's house. When they bloomed they weren't what I expected... ended up replacing them with blue hydrangeas. Then that whole side of town became hydrangeas only.

Mine are kind of mixed up because I just bought starts randomly from the island and town to get all my paths started. Now that my paths are complete, I'm going to slowly work in some kind of organized system. I didn't want to waste so much time with getting combinations and making it look all aesthetic when the stupid starts would die randomly from dead spots or whatever.

On Sundance I lined my paths with sweet olive, flower, hydrangea, flower, sweet olive.... I think it looks nice so far. :)
The blooming season for the hydrangeas has gone by anyway, so blue or pink, doesn't make any difference until next year. x)

I don't have many bushes in my town, but they're mixed up and they matched with the public works and the flowers around, for example in the camping zone I have sweet olives and blue hydrangeas with white roses and mushrooms, and it's a cute combination for me :)

I, like, have to put my bushes with the same type, otherwise it really bugs me.

mostly, i put bush types with their own type- however, i mix colors within the types! so in a certain area, i'll have alternating white and pink azaleas or alternating blue and pink hydrangeas  still keeps the bushes uniform w/ color and leaf shape, but has color variation

Same type. I don't like the look when you mix them up except if they're just different colors (but same type, like pink and white azalea)

Right now, they're mixed up because I've just been putting bushes in place to delineate paths. Once the dirt paths are established, I'll be removing lines of bushes and replacing them with flowers and/or trees to mark them.

Those areas I am keeping hedges, I'm in the process of replacing bushes with the "correct" type. This would be holly at the train station, working down and over to The Roost (caf? is below the train station, but the path curves around toward the center of town, branching off to other areas). I'm thinking about sweet olive in the center of town, which is an open park and has orange and peach trees growing. I'll have to see what looks nice with the perfect cherry grove - either azalea or hydrangea - and the other type will go down the east side of town, where most of my villagers live.

Holly and Red Hibiscus is the best combo. I don't make the rules. ?\_(ツ)_/?

I've always mixed them..IF they look nice together.
If they clash too much I would just cut them down and replace them with something else x

I plant them by type. Cool colours in the north, warm colours in the south.

I also treat them mostly like bedding plants so usually just have the current season's shrubs. The rest I buy each day and keep in storage until it's their turn.

I mix them up mostly because I forget what kind of flowers they have

That's a really neat idea! To go along with it, it would be nice if cedar trees were able to grow in the southern half to make it more winter-y in the winter.

In some towns I do have mixed shrubs from the gardening store. Since they only bloom for a short period of time it's nice to see flowers on a few shrubs each time. I like the light/dark green shrubs together. This is my favorite shrub set up.

In other towns I do like the darker green shrubs but not a fan of the blue/pink shrubs during the summer time. They don't go with my bright color flowers. In another town I tried to use only pink/white azaleas to fit the pastel theme.

My one wish for the next game is to have the shrubs flower all year long. If flowers can live in the winter than summer flower shrubs can too.
