Do you need a villager of each personality?

This is a question that probably has been posted and debated here in the past, but I'm new and I did try searching for a post with this name before I started this. I even used the search bar.

Anyways I recently printed out a list of all the New Leaf characters and their personalities and I realized that I already have 3 jocks in my town, as well as a dreamie who's a jock and of the other characters I have that I wanted to keep they're lazy, peppy and normal.

And the three characters I've been wanting to get rid of are snooty, uchi and uchi.

So in total I have no smug, or cranky characters, the one's i want to get rid of are the only ones I have of their kind (I don't want either uchi) and I have an overflow of jock characters, (I didn't even think that I liked jocks o.o)

So I guess my question is, does it matter? Do I need to have at least one of each type of character in my town for some reason?

No but it's more convenient to have all so you can get all pwp requests

There are certain PWPs that only get suggested by certain personalities but that's about it! Lots of people get all the PWPs they can from the personality they don't want then replace them with their dreamies.

No, it doesn't matter whether you have at least one of each personality. You are free to have any villager of any personality whether it be all jocks or a certain number of a personality. I personally like having different personalities mainly because i like how they all act based on it. But then again there might be some super secret prize like a cookie or something, I only started in May :\

There are certain PWPs that only get suggested by certain personalities but that's about it! Lots of people get all the PWPs they can from the personality they don't want then replace them with their dreamies.

Is there a list somewhere of which PWP can only be suggested by certain character types? I do need more PWP's but not all of them, only the ones I like

I have all the types to get the PWPs from them. (I booted my snooty when she gave up her last PWP.) But it's probably also a good idea to meet and interact with each type before you choose your dream villagers. I had several favorite jocks in the older versions of the game, but I've found I don't care for them in New Leaf. I don't know if they changed or if I did! I'm keeping Kid Cat both for old times sake and PWPs. And crankies! I didn't realize how sweet they were. Grizzly is just an old softie But mostly I have lazy villagers. They seem to have replaced the jocks as my favorites.

I don't have to have one of each personality, but I like a couple from each group so why not lol

Right now I'm missing an Uchi but I'm not too bothered about not having Uchi projects at the moment. Once I get all snooty or normal projects, then I'll move one of them out then move in an uchi c:

I don't have any of the cranky personality because I'm not a fan and I've gotten all the pwps specific to that personality.

Otherwise, no it doesn't really matter to me?? I picked out villagers who's designs I liked and went from there.

Holy heck there's a lot of different PWP's, you can only have 30 though, I'll either have to pick my 30 now and plan things out from there, or else dump some jocks and "catch 'em all" until i've got everything to choose from

The resetti centre, town hall, and train station remodel don't count as pwp's so it's actually 33 pwp's you can have

I like to have a balance of them all because then the dialogue is not as predictable. And for the pwps that i am still trying to get.

I'm a bit iffy on the upgrades to the town hall and the train station, I'm a fan of modern interiors but when I had my house done up to match the eventual modern town-hall ect it felt too cold for the little animal crossing village

Alright i've got a list of all the animals with personalities and a list of pictures of all the animals so i can write their personalities underneath, i can't remember who they are from just the names, i'm terrible at names.

I'm going to tackle this thing like a homework assignment!!

My town has 5 normals!!!!!! I find them the nicest & cutest. It's what ever you want. Just try to work with the villagers you like & the pwp's. It'll also give you a challenge :3

i personally prefer not to have a jock because their personality doesn't appeal to me
but it's definitely better to have a variety for the sake of pwps, especially if you want a perfect town
rating but don't want all of the default projects

Nope, it really doesn't matter unless you want certain PWPs. I really don't care about having all the personalities myself. I hate crankies so much and I definitely wouldn't want any of them in my town haha.

It doesn't matter unless you want to unlock all of the PWPs or want a certain one that can only be requested by a certain personality - and even then you can get rid of that personality once you have the PWPs if you don't like it. So in the end it's up to your own personal choice and what fits with your town plan to decide if you want to include all of the personalities or not. Don't let anyone else decide that for you!

For me personally, I get really bored having too many duplicates of the same personality, so I've made sure to have at least one of each personality type in my town. I like the different dialogues and it makes my villagers feel more 'individual'. I found it really boring to have three normals in my town at one point as I think their dialogue is one of the most basic and uninteresting, so variety is good for me.
