Do you name your mayor after yourself?

I used to in older AC games, but I don't anymore. My name (Jasmijn) is Dutch, and it just doesn't look right when the rest is all English. I've had the nickname Campy for a few years now, so that's what I use in all my games. :)

You have a pretty name haha.

On topic: Too used to pen names online to do that, albeit I'm not faithful to a single one anymore. My Mii is my real name though, since...mii.

And my ACWW villager had my real name, but I basically played that game solo forever.

Basically, yes. Manah is not my real name, but I go by that name pretty much everywhere, so I guess it counts.

the game feels more personal if you use your actual name because theyre addressin you not just your character

My mayor is called Anika. She's a character in a book called the Star of Kazan, except in the book her name is spelt Annika (I prefer one 'n' though). My town is called Kazan. I was going to call it Vienna, since that is where the book is set, but I decided not to ^o^

Well.. Everyone wants Senpai, and everyone wants me.. So I guess you could say I named Mayor Senpai after myself.

Yep, I always have. Fae isn't the name I go by elsewhere on the internet or in real life, so I usually name my mayor after that name. I use my mayor as a persona or an avatar and not a character; it's sort of a way for me to live out my ideal style and appearance when that's unattainable in real life, you know?

I used to but then I thought it would be fun to make characters out of my villagers and myself included, which is why I chose Lyra.

No. My name is long and never seems to fit within the character limitations, so years ago I adopted Ashley as my go-to character name (since it's unisex). However, through out the years as there are more options to choose to play as a girl or guy, I've gone with an almost homophone that is a little less common: Aisling.

Also, my town, Lawndale, is based on the old animated TV show Daria. So I have Daria, Jane and Trent living in my town too.

Generally I call game characters their official name: I'm the guy who was Ash in RBY, Gold in GSC, Brendan in RSE, etc. If I have a Zelda game I'm always Link. Of course I got kinda stuck with ACNL, so I filled in the first thing that came to mind, which was "jolokia" because I was eating some rice with bhut jolokias. It's a hot pepper. I guess the little guy is lucky I was eating and he didn't end up being called Stapler or Sharpie.

I do know one thing: I don't want to be "me" in a video game. I'm me all the time in real life as it is! When I turn on a game I want to do something different.

Did you really choose Lyra?! *points at username (and it's my name irl too) lol...um, but is it because of the golden compass? (probably)

Never... not even in my GC game...
My name's Samantha... a way overly common name... and I hate it.
Thus, I shall not force my character to share the same fate.
