Cuz I know I do heh. I just keep bringing ideas from other games (like catchphrases) into ACNL, I guess it just makes makes me love the game a bit more everytime I see ways I can personalize my town and residents
Haha, very much so. My Zelda-themed town is called Lynna, the capital of Labrynna, the country the game Oracle of Ages takes place in. It was the first Zelda game I've ever played, and so the most nostalgic for me.
My villager's catchphrases are mostly Zelda creatures. Skye says wolfos, Flo says freezard, Lionel says lynel, Bob says remlit, Pippy says pols voice, and Lucky says gibdog. I had to add the g for Lucky, the pun was too great.
At one point everyone in my town was saying "morty" and other random things from Rick and Morty because I love that show. Also because I hate thinking of unique catchphrases so this is kind of brainless and easy for me lol.
I've got a bit of a Rule of Rose themed town. My town tune is the theme song of the game and I have a Wendy living in the orphanage I'm trying to make as accurate as I can.
The mayor of my all-bird town is named and designed after after a character from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. If anyone has played those games, you probably have a good guess of who it is. I don't really want to go any further in-depth with descriptions because those games are worth experiencing yourself.
My town is called Lumatown, and pretty much every villager's catchphrase except for Felicity and Rudy is 'it'sa me'. I also have two cut-out stands of Mario and Luigi in my town.
I have a flowerbed in the shape of a Triforce.
My mayor has a whole room full of the Nintendo items, if that counts.
My mayor says 'Have fun in my town!' which is actually two references in one, although only one is a reference to a video game. In WW, it says 'Have fun in *your town*!' after you load up your town, so I thought I'd make a little reference to that. Also, my first WW was called 'mytown', so... yeah.
And J-Star looks like Claus from Mother 3.
But there will be one or two non-Nintendo references in my town. One will be in there once SunnyHeart's house is finished. (Hint: Her house is horror/Halloween-themed, and the reference is from a Sonic game.) Another one I'm thinking of adding will involve a ruby, a sapphire, an amethyst and a picture of Purrl... (Yes, I know this one isn't to do with video games)
Yes. My main town's name of Ruddyoak, and my mayor, Athelwyn, are both game references.
Athelwyn was a female human (ranger?) character in a reaaaallly old Lord of the Rings computer game made by Interplay, and Ruddyoak was the name of one of the ents in the same game. (My secondary human characters are Lobelia and Barliman, though that's really a reference to the books rather than the game.)
