As I have gotten much older, birthdays for me now personally are just regular days aha However, there really isn't an excuse for that being I was born on Halloween so it can be hard to ignore. I'm thinking that I may just hold a party for close friends and family or those I want to invite this year depending on how everything is going. I can't believe how time flies though.

I would have loved birthday parties if I had gotten any as a kid (when I got old enough to remember, I mean; my parents told me they held parties when I was much younger).

Nowadays, my birthday is just another grim reminder that I'm that much closer to the end.

And I'm only 31.

I like my birthday parties small and laidback with just close friends and family. When I was little I loved having themed parties and having more people over, but even then I was still a bit selective with my invites. I'm not really much of a party person, but I won't deny that I like getting positive attention, presents, and nice food ahahaha.

For me personally it's really depended on the year.

I had parties with friends through the 6th grade. After that I felt shy about it and in high school I didn't have many close friends so I didn't have a party, just with my family and extended family (we get together every couple of months to celebrate holidays and birthdays).

After graduating college I went back for a day and stayed over at a friend's dorm around my birthday in-between periods of being away and they had a surprise party for me! :lemon: It was three people and mostly a cake and decorations but it made it really happy.

At the high school I taught at some of the students/teachers gave me candy and sang to me haha

I still get presents from my family but probably won't do much with friends anymore.

I always celebrated with friends in kindergarten and high school. The last birthday I celebrated was my 19th (now I’m 23).

I slowly started to feel more and more stressed during my birthdays, because while I had quite a few good friends, they didn’t really know each other. I never was part of one big friend group but made individual friends.
My friends were so different from each other with opposite interests and personalities that I always worried if they’d get along, find someone to chat with and have a good time. I always ended up rushing back and forth, making sure everyone was happy, that I ended up not having a good time myself. The anxiety just got worse every year. I was so afraid of awkward silence in the room that I just stopped celebrating. Also, most of my friends moved far away to study and work and it’s impossible to gather them all on the same day.

The last few years I just celebrated with my parents and my husband. We cook something I like or go to a restaurant, spend the day and evening together, and have a quiet cozy time. It’s ideal for me 😊

I also don’t really like attending birthday parties of others anymore - but I wouldn’t turn down a friend’s invitation. I feel like that would be very selfish. It’s about my friend that day, not about me.

i only had one birthday party it was big i didn't like it full of people i didn't know in my family side

I only have my close friends at my birthday party, I don't like hanging out in crowds, especially crowds of acquaintances and people that I do not know.
