Do you have to plot reset the same day?

When it comes to plot resetting, do I have to plot reset the DAY I know a villager is going to plot, or can I start up a new character any day after that as long as I do not go on my mayor at all to plot reset?


For example:
Purrl was invited to move to my town tomorrow
I don't feel like plot resetting tomorrow
I don't play at all
I open the game up on Saturday as a new character right away


Will this work?

i swear i read somewhere that as long as you don't start as your mayor, you should be fine.​

It has to be on the day her area is roped off. As long as her house isn't built yet, you can plot reset.

That's what I was told, anyway.

The example you gave will work as long as you don't load up your mayor account! I do it all the time. :3

i think you'd best off if you timewarp now, to 5:55AM the next day, and then try to plot reset now if you have time. you have a few days before the villager is moved in and you can reset her until that time is up, but once you enter the time frame that they're in your town, the clock starts ticking you know.

I've gone a few days before doing it. But just like Minni said, just don't load-up your Mayor at any point in between :>

I know people have plot reset for long after the house was built and moved in but I think they started when it was roped off.

sorry to kinda barg into your thread here,
but does anyone know if villagers only have a certain number of spots they'll move into?
I'm currently trying to plot reset Whitney's house and I can't for the life of my get her into the spot I want, her house only keeps moving around to the same 5 spots.

Try doing a hard reset by turning off your DS completely and then reloading the game instead of just hitting home and restarting. Often this will help nudge the villager to a different area.
