I was wondering if any of you have any scrapped concepts or OC's that you felt like going back once in a while. I do have loads of scrapped concepts and unfinished but scrapped OC's for example, this was Elinor's original design before re-conceptualizing her. She has this overly regal look to it but I found the two pens to be too much so I basically scrapped them for a smaller fountain pen but they bear the same ability. Her general background and personality is a lot different before.
And some scrapped character made in MS Paint from years ago (2017-ish):
and there's probably more scrapped concepts and characters I have years ago. Feel free to share some scrapped concepts you have, it's interesting seeing other's concept that were left out or old.
yup, lots ^^; i have a tendency to be excited with designing characters but then get bored of them easily..... i only have a few i truly connected with.
had this cynocephalus character that i had a few comms for.... i think about them occasionally but i just fell out of love with this guy. I think they were inspired by Undertale characters?
then i had this OC that had like a frog anatomy shirt.... it was mainly to memorize the parts of a frog.
i also had this demon guy..... idk why i even made him, i don't like male OCs that much, just felt compelled to make an older sibling to another existing OC i had.
I play D&D, so I have SO many scrapped characters, or even characters I played in game once and then never again. I wish I was talented enough to do the art for them, but most of their character portraits are just from Pinterest, which I won't post here for copyright reasons. But, making a billion new OC's and getting to try new things out is one of my favorite parts of the game!
i don't typically "scrap" my OCs, if the design is good i sell them. otherwise, i had a different concept of my main oc Dahlia than what she is right now. she has alternate outfits now to flesh her out a bit, i originally was going to keep her in vintage officewear but decided to make her more with-the-times (her story takes place in the 70s.) so she's a bit less of her original concept and more with it. i also changed her personality a lot, instead of making her a scared little crybaby i made her a lot more empathetic, excitable and dumb LOL. she's a good time fun gal now.
original design VS one of her alts. i still use her original design as her "signature" look but i love this alt outfit specifically.
i love her. she's my little silly.
edit: i forgot to add. Damon (seen above) changed a lot too. he was an "investigator" before but now his role is a bit more complex. he does investigations, still, but it's almost entirely investigating occults. he also wrangles, hunts and rehabilitates occult, too. his design has been the same, though. Just A Guy
Originally my main OC Estelle was Japanese and her name was Sumomo. Her story was she worked at a Maid Cafe and had family issues with her parents. I changed her to an American with a western name that works as a waitress. The only things I kept the same are her appearance and the fact she's secretly a witch. I did this mainly because I felt like I was obsessed with Japan to an unhealthy degree for a long time and I wanted to separate myself from that. She also had a sister named Haru that I scrapped because I couldn't really think of any real ideas of what to do with her. Here's what Haru looked like:
When I was younger I used to draw random original creatures (Most of them my poor attempts at imitating Pokemon) all the time and I think 90% of them count as scrapped. I don't really have images to show because they're all on paper and lost somewhere.
Around 2020-2021 I believe I also made some fandom OCs that got scrapped. Some of them I still use, at least...
Edit: I accidentally skipped over the time period I had fandom OCs in the 2010s. Uh, I think they're kinda scrapped?
Oh yeah! Pretty much all of my characters have undergone a transformation of some sort. Queen Clotilda used to be more buff and athletic, and didn't wear much makeup, jewelry, or painted nails. More of a warrior. Auntie Bathilde was more of a classic Halloween witch rather than half-elf, half-witch with her own unique magic. (You can see her old concepts in the Museum thread, as I used to draw Halloween pics of her.)
most of my ocs are scrapped yeah. usually i make ocs and then immediately forget about them and never use them for anything. only recently I've started making ocs that still stick with me, maybe because i can post them to toyhouse now. i do also have one oc i made a few months ago who i changed the design of a bit
I tried making a Fire Emblem Three Houses OC when I was still drawing and was considering writing a fanfiction. I scrapped it since I’m no longer going to try writing it, at least not for now. I might’ve deleted the notes I wrote for it though.
